Hi everyone, my toddler is obsessed with making gingerbread men and I'm also really enjoying doing bit of relatively easy baking every now and then. I'd love to home make mince pies but have missed window for doing own mince meat. I adore stolen but it looks quite difficult! Does anyone have any fairly simple but delicious Christmas baking recipes they can share?

You can buy jars of mincemeat in supermarkets- It's much easier and the dc don't mind. I cheated by also buying ready to roll puff pastry too!

Ottolenghi Brunsli biscuits. Think the guardian website has the recipe.

These Christmas tree brownies and Christmas pud cookies are nice easy ones I’ve made in the past- I think both recipes are Janes Pattisserie!

The ready rolled sheets of flaky pastry are excellent for toddlers. You can buy cook cutters, Christmas tees, gingerbread mad and women ornaments etc.

It takes 25 minutes bake and provides endless fun. I would use the tubes of icing to decorate. Then add silver drawees, hundreds and thousands and chocolate spinkles.

And don’t bother trying to make nice neat ‘lids’ for mince pies - use a star-shaped cutter for the top. They look very nice and use less pastry!

The best ready made mincemeat is the M&S classic one, about £2.50 a jar and will make approx 12. It's delicious. Have fun!

Sausage rolls!!! Pre rolled puff pastry and sausages. Can even freeze ahead and cook from frozen.

Strangely that’s the one we like least! Asdas own in the one we prefer (ds eats a lot of mince pies this time of year!)

You can also make the star shapef lids for mince pies out of marzipan....delicious!.

These are fun to make too!

You definitely haven’t missed the window for making your own mince meat! I made Delia’s last year and it says you can use it straight away (which I did!)

Homemade mince pies are so easy and taste so good I’d definitely give it a go with your toddler:

8oz plain flour
4oz butter cold chopped up
Mix with fingers
8 (ish) teaspoon water
Roll out and cut.

Use homemade or shop bought mincemeat. Use a slightly smaller round cookie cutter for the lid (or star shape etc)…Or as my toddler prefers - use icing instead for the top!
