What to put in a Christmas hamper

Hi,

I'm looking for ideas for Christmas hampers please! Both my mum and stepdad and my dad and stepmom have randomly requested hampers for their Christmas present this year.

I have made a start, I've ordered two lovely wicker hampers with lids and leather buckles as I thought they could keep these afterwards and store things in them and I've ordered their favourite wines and some little bits like chutneys and festive jams and condiments from fortnum and mason just to make it a bit special. Food wise I'll go shopping closer to Christmas to get meats and cheeses and crackers and things so I'm fairly sorted on that end.

The issue is I'd like to put some other items in, like maybe little homeware bits - maybe tea towels or candles or something? Some wine glasses? I don't know.

Apart from food and wine, what would you like to discover in a hamper?

Thanks!

From experience, I know that sometimes when people ask for hampers, it means that they don’t want any more ‘stuff’ and just want consumables. My DM always asks my DBro for a hamper for that reason, and DH’s aunt always tells us the same when we ask her what she wants.
So, if you don’t want to just do food and drink, then how about Molton Brwon, soap, hand cream, magazine, lip balm etc..?

If they like gardening you could stick in some seeds or bulbs (too late for spring bulbs but there are summer/autumn bulbs they can plant in the spring).

Some people don't do candles but maybe a nice diffuser or home fragrance. I also thing you can't have enough tea towels - there's always one you can bin and replace with another - so that's a good thought.

If you want to go down the bulb route, what about "grow your own Amarylis or Hyacinths in a bowl" sets. I've not looked for them recently, but M&S/Waitrose used to sell them.

If you live near an Aldi they are releasing a lot of the things that used to go in their Xmas hampers tomorrow.

I'd look to add some teas/coffees/hot chocolates to a foodie hamper.

A tree decoration would be nice, among all the consumables.
