Good thermal mug recommendations

I need a decent thermal mug that keeps coffee properly hot for a minimum of 2-3 hours.
It must also be 100% leakproof so I can bung it in my bag and have no risk of a lid flipping open when I'm walking along.
Bonus if it comes in pretty colours / designs. Approx 300ml capacity.

I've had one of these for about 10 years. I can put it upside down in my laptop bag and be confident it won't leak. It also keeps my coffee hot for hours. I actually make it an hour or so before I want to drink it as it's too hot otherwise

Oh that's interesting, this model actually references an easy to clean lid that comes apart. That's definitely an improvement on the model I had!

I can highly recommend 'Contigo'. Tesco sell them and I've also spotted them on Amazon.

Keeps my coffee hot for up to 6 hours and totally handbag proof.

I always recommend YETI- keeps stuff boiling for ages.

I have both a yeti mug and an upright yeti. They definitely keep drinks hot for ages but I wouldn't bung them in even a side pocket. Mine have the press on lid and magnetic slider clasp. Which one do you have?

I have the yeti rambler it's fantastic, drinks stay piping hot for hours. Used it every day at the TT this year, coffee was still hot 5 hours later.

Porridgeislife · 22/11/2024 06:27

Yeti Rambler does keep your coffee hotter but they don’t do a good leakproof lid. The only suitable one (Hotshot) is really fiddly.

Contigo all the way for your work bag. I have both. My Yeti lives at work as it’s no good for travel.

I also have a contigo which I'm very happy with. I think if they get bashed too much they loose their ability to keep things warm. DH fell from his bike and smashed his, you could hear the inside rattling if you shook it. DD borrowed one mine a few times and swore she didn't drop it, it doesn't look like she has, but it's not as good as it was before. I suspect she's thrown her school bag down and it's damaged it somehow. The other one, which I got at the same time, and only I've ever used, is fine.

Kleen Kanteen. Can't believe they haven't been recommended yet. Hands down the best travel cups we own. They don't get hot on the outside really keeping your drink hot inside. Loads of different styles too.

This - totally leakproof and keeps the drink super hot for hours.

Just putting this back out there as I can't believe no one has suggested it. Honestly I've tried pretty much all suggested here and this is the only one where the drink is almost too hot to drink hours later.

The thermos ones. Mine rolls around in my bag and I have to take the lid off to make it cool to drink - even just resting the lid on top will keep enough heat in for a couple of hours.

Ah yeah I think the press on lids aren’t secure enough. It’s a screw on lid in black plastic, which you can then unscrew another bit to drink from (but admittedly, I don’t do that, I usually just unscrew the whole lid and drink from the metal cup if that makes sense).

I've got a bubba ceramic lined travel mug. I've actually stopped using it because it keeps it too hot for too long... still burning hot after 4/5 hrs. It's leakproof too, although I've never slung it in a bag.
I bought it from Asda for about £12. They don't seem to sell it anymore, but other places do.

I've e got a couple of different Contigo ones which are completely leakproof and keep drinks very hot for a long time, but they bug me how stained they get. I've recently invested in a Ninja Thirsty which is completely dishwasher safe and I'm really impressed. Keeps cold drinks cold and hot very hot, plus doesn't leak at all, however, I prefer drinking out of the Contigo as the Ninja is more like a water bottle in design so feels a bit weird sipping coffee out of it!

Blarn · 22/11/2024 08:57

The lid on the smash one also comes apart really easily to properly clean.

AppleDumplings · 22/11/2024 09:36

Categorically, and without fail I reccomend the SUNTQ mugs. We live on a boat, have been in terrible weather and seen this fly past us and as long as the little flap lip is closed nothing leaks. And stays hot as it goes in for hours.
