This year, for certain reasons, I'll be spending Christmas alone. Even though it's just me, I till want to make the holiday feel special and meaningful. I believe every occasion deserves a little celebration.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions for how to spend Christmas solo? Maybe a cozy activity, a delicious meal, or something fun and creative to do at home? I'd love to hear how you'd make the most of a solo Christmas.

Thanks in advance for sharing!

I would be stocking up on M&S food, maybe planned out for the Christmas and Boxing Day. I would decide on films in advance, so I had them to look forward to, as well as starting a jigsaw.
I would do an extra ‘spring’ clean, change my bedding, buy a heated blanket or something cozy and new for my bed.
You could plan a walk, go to a church service or carol service, if you wanted to go out. I hope you have a lovely time.

Morning: really nice smelling beauty products, deep conditioning hair mask, gorgeous pjs...either silky or soft and cozy.
Breakfast... French toast, berries and maple syrup, good coffee, bucks fizz or croissants and smoked salmon.
Watch a film you enjoy,.read a book, go for a walk - are you anywhere near the coast? If so, take a flask of coffee/ hot chocolate and some a selection box/ nice chocolate (fore energy of course)
Late afternoon... food....anything you fancy? Do you want a 'proper' meal or more nibbly bits?

I'm not a church person but could that be sonething you do? Helping a charity? Catch up with friends who may be on different time zones?

If you like reading buy a new book.

Are you thinking of cooking a roast?

hattie43 · 20/11/2024 07:08

A solo Christmas for me would start with a bracing walk on the beach with the dogs . Once home it would be a warm shower and into clean pj's / loungewear followed by breakfast of scrambled eggs piles of smoked salmon and sourdough toast with good coffee.
A full roast would be put in the over and prepared for 5pm , the dogs love a roast too.
The rest of the day would be chocolate, Prosecco present opening , good books , jigsaws , Lego , films whatever I wanted .
Oh god I've just read it back and think I want to do this , I'll have to fein contagious illness .

There was a great thread on this last year. Will see if I can find it.

hattie43 · 20/11/2024 07:17

The title of your thread is a bit misleading OP. You're asking for gift ideas and must haves but want answers about how to spend a solo Christmas. You might get more suggestions if you adjust the title incase people ignore yet another gift thread .

I would love just one Christmas on my own. I tend to wake up anyway and greet the dawn 5 am here) which is heaven so I could do that and perhaps an early swim. Local Mass early, home for breakfast then into the cathedral for the full works sung Mass. I’ve never done that and I want to. Perhaps when Dad dies.

Nice cheeses etc, some champagne because I love the stuff and a good book and a movie. Make a small cake and have a bit of chocolate.

If I am lucky, I can have the house open to the sunshine and breeze, if not then it’s airconditioning.

Agree on advice to change the title of the thread.

How about midnight mass on Christmas Eve? Or a spa trip on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day?

Fairyduster24 · 20/11/2024 09:50

All of the suggestions sound devibe to be honest OP! I think we all might be feeling a little jealous

@hattie43 Thank you. But where can I adjust the title?😂
