I have a very small team of 7, all women. They are a wonderful team and I would like to get them all a gift, but I have no idea what! We are public sector so no-one is making 6 figures here and we have difficult front line jobs with little thanks.

Any ideas? No food or alcohol due to various factors, I wondered about a personalised jewellery box from not on the high street but I'm worried this is a bit naff........

Help wise people of mumsnet.......

How about neutral but from a small company so it's supporting little businesses?
E.g. last year I got my team a small smelly candle and hand cream from theyorkshirebeeswax company. I figured, they could always re-gift if they didn't want the products.

I think a jewellery box may not work as most people already have them who want them.

Otherwise posh food is always good, e.g. one fancy cheese like yorkshirebomber so it's sealed in wax, posh crackers and posh sweet chilli jam and a handwritten recipe for amazing cheese toasties

Or if you work long hours, a food gift of a quick tea e.g. posh pesto, posh pasta, small wine bottle, meringues and a jar of sweet sauce of some kind?

Oh sorry, just seen the no food bit!
A voucher for a local cafe or Costa?
A small silver bracelet?

Personalised pin badges for your lanyards with sayings from each person always goes down well e.g. if someone always says "what is going on?!" That can be theirs, etc. Etc.

Engraved whistles if its part of your job, they r about £7 each

Healthscareandworried · 18/11/2024 20:08

I am making my team Christmas decorations amongst other things. Also making chutney but you said no food.

CouchSweetPotatoes · 18/11/2024 20:11

Similar to the personalised jewellery box but a bit more versatile, I like giving handbag pouches as gifts. They’re useful things, and you could get personalised ones if that appeals particularly!

PastaAndProse · 18/11/2024 20:15

An individual Christmas decoration each? John Lewis have some nice ones.

lonelyweather · 18/11/2024 20:41

In the same position so following keenly! So far my ideas are: posh soap / nice socks / comedy earrings. Much as we all get along I don’t think I’d want to be staring at a bauble from my from my boss on Christmas Day, so I’m not doing that

obsessedwithfreshbread · 18/11/2024 21:15

Similar to PP I'd go for something for relaxation something like a sleepy hand cream, a candle and some cosy fluffy socks

I love the quote idea! But think I'd still need something to go with it......

Fancy notebooks for note taking in meetings and novelty hilarious pens for writing? You could have different pens per person e.g. one with a wobbly pompom, one that flashes when you write. Etc.
Not sur ejf it's everyone's vibe but my coworkers would find this hilarious.

I work in public sector and one year our manager gave us all a Costa voucher. I can't normally afford to indulge there so having a coffee and a toastie while sitting reading my book was bliss.

ForPearlViper · 18/11/2024 23:17

I received a little jewellery box last Christmas. I already have a place I store my jewellery, it didn't go with my bedroom, I couldn't think what else to do with it so it got donated.

Don't give something that needs a place in their homes or on their bodies unless you 100% know all their personal tastes.

Desk/work things are good. But I have said it many times when advising on work gifts, a scented candle (or similar) never offends - and if they don''t like it it will save them money on a hostess gift somewhere down the line, as previous poster said.

JC03745 · 18/11/2024 23:27

I'm assuming you are their manager? Budget?
Sorry, but I would assume most adult women have somewhere they already store jewellery. A personalised box is rather naff, and would mean it couldn't be regifted and wouldn't likely sell in a charity shop.
Do they all need to get the same gift? Like all these threads, everyone is so different. Some people love hand soaps whereas others would find it offensive.

-Extra day off work. If not, then a half day- Start later or leave earlier on a day that is mutually agreed with you
-Scratch cards
-Voucher for M&S?

Yes I am there manager, we are public sector front line workers so I can't give them a day off (even though I will be delighted to) this is the jewellery box I was thinking of

I've just found Jewellery Organiser With Personalised Handle Gift Set.
These little organisers are a simple and stylish way to store your jewellery.
£12.80

No they don't all need to have the same gift, i think scratch cards don't show much thought. Maybe I am over thinking this.......

Tbh I'd keep it simple . A nice handwritten card including a Christmas themed scratch card and a Loccitane hand cream or soap .

Put the quote on a coaster they could keep on their desk. Did a quick search on Etsy and found those in the photo, expect there will be others.

Get them each their own mug

Onlyplans · 19/11/2024 08:58

I’d say mug or voucher for costa, or cinema, m&s etc
doesn’t need to be much but I’d stay away from jewellery boxes and things

Mill3nnial · 19/11/2024 13:28

I think a £10 voucher for M&S or could you take everyone out cot lunch and pay or fo a coffee / butty run?

The jewellery box is nice but if the person you're giving it to doesn't want or need it then it's just useless crap which is why food gifts are good.

You could do a mug personalised for each person just to use at work but each then they probably have a nicer mug already
