Recommendations for chocolate fountain

My kiddo has asked for a chocolate fountain from Father Christmas this year, so I want to make sure the one I buy isn't a dudd. Has anyone bought one they can recommend?

No, but someone once bought one for DD. It was used once. Since been thrown away. I would say don't bother but if they really want one get the cheapest possible so you don't waste your money.

I got a small one for my DC for about £15 and it was a good little one. Worked fine but you have to use a lot of chocolate to fill them up enough so it flows properly. If you get a big expensive one then I dread to think how much chocolate it would take to make it work properly. There’s only so much chocolate kiddo can eat then it has to just go in the bin so it’s a waste so be mindful of that.

Don't do it. Either you use it once or you have to keep buying chocolate. Probably a pain to wash as well.

Oh yes, that as well. A bugger to wash. Bet kiddo won't be doing it.

Would you really not buy what your kid wants from FC though? Fair enough if they wanted something hugely expensive or really hard to get ahold of, I could see trying to change their minds then, but a chocolate fountain that's what £20 and can be picked up easily, of course I'm going to get it. But then I understand the trauma of the Mr Frosty so maybe that affects my decision making on this 😂.
If they all do the same job I'll go for the cheapest. Don't worry I don't think any chocolate will get binned in my household, we'll help out with that !

You need to buy suitable chocolate for it, this is where lots of people go wrong and blame the fountain where the issue is actually not having a chocolate that melts properly and stays melted. You need couverture chocolate. Callebaut do a special milk chocolate designed for fountains which has a higher cocoa butter content to ensure that the chocolate stays viscous. It's excellent and what I used to use when I had one. However chocolate has gone up massively in price and this is reflected even more in the price of couverture chocolate as they have a much higher cocoa content than the garbage you buy in the supermarket.

i think callebaut only does massive bags now but this could be an option https://www.nisbets.co.uk/sephra-luxury-belgian-milk-chocolate-907g/hu101?vatToggle=incvat&cmmmc=PLA--18123854043&cmmmca1=go18123854043c&kpid=gocmp-18123854043adg-ad-dev-cext-prd-HU101sig-Cj0KCQiA6Ou5BhCrARIsAPoTxrAW781b9BijqZDomFS0iFWtMRRGR9lJ7-JrMLWkCNO3rsdr3vfxQE0aAiIHEALwwcB&gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAADES7psLS4sTUykcpWi3bjjQCX-I&gclid=Cj0KCQiA6Ou5BhCrARIsAPoTxrAW781b9BijqZDomFS0iFWtMRRGR9lJ7-JrMLWkCNO3rsdr3vfxQE0aAiIHEALwwcB

basically if you try to use dairy milk or some lidl cheap stuff it won't work.

My DD has the Lakeland one which looks to be half price for Black Friday.
Chocolate fountain

We've used it a few times and it works fine, but as has been mentioned it's a bugger to clean! She loves it though!

I saw one in B&M Bargains recently. About £20.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 18/11/2024 22:35

@Qwerty21, ahh sorry...I didn't notice that. That's a shame. Good luck!

Qwerty21 · 19/11/2024 14:01

Thanks everyone 🙂 picked one up from home bargains, £15. Will get ordering some of that chocolate to go with it
