I know they aren't the sexiest of gifts, but I keep hearing good stuff about water flossers and was thinking of getting my husband one for Christmas. Has anyone got one? Are they any good?

@wiltywinnie
Because above the tooth part of the implant there's like an indent at the gumline where it narrows into the post. It's an area that can collect debris so needs to be kept super clean to reduce infection risk & implants failing.
Cost me a bloody fortune so taking zero chances.:-)

Basic Water Pik cordless, takes a few goes to get used to it as it's a really strange sensation, and how to hold your head over the sink, but persevere and my mouth doesn't feel clean now if I don't use it.

I love mine! I do alternate with ordinary flossing too but I have a couple of teeth that are hard to fully get between with floss, and it cleans my gum line better than brushing alone. I have one of the corded Waterpiks as they’re supposed to be more powerful and can hold more water than cordless, but I do think I’d use a cordless one more regularly.

Free waterpick - point the shower head into your teeth during your shower. I do this daily and it’s effective. Just smile like the joker and aim it in different directions.

BottomlessBrunch · 18/11/2024 15:06

I like my water pick but I use it in the shower in the mornings to avoid mess! I'm not a very neat person and they go everywhere ha

GildedRage · 18/11/2024 15:27

Another vote for cordless in the shower.

Wouldn't be without one now. Bought first because of braces but they are long gone and the water flosser remains. My dentists view was the best type of flossing is the one you are going to do so whilst it may not be as effective as some other flossing methods, it's very much better than not flossing.

I would be happy with a good one!

So, these water closers, do you use cold water? The thought of cold water on my teeth scares me!

I use warm as I have sensitive teeth

Flossflower · 19/11/2024 14:23

I have had mine for about 4 years and I love it. It is a waterpik corded one with a large tank. I would not be without it. All sorts of rubbish comes out of my gums. I also have a battery one which is hopeless.

rockstep · 19/11/2024 16:03

Me too @Silkworm, I would need warm then !

It's like trying to clean your teeth with a fire extinguisher.

I got used to it. Didn't find it "got anything out" though. And then I stopped using it. It's the bathroom equivalent of a bread maker.

I couldn’t put it any better than this!

Webbb · 19/11/2024 18:08

I'm looking at getting one on Black Friday! I like the idea of using a cordless one in the shower.

Same here. DH would get water everywhere. Now use TePe brushes instead!
