Stocking for charity; 7 year old boy

A local charity has established families that would otherwise not get a Christmas present for their children this year and asked if people could commit to spending around £20 to get some gifts and in turn you are told the age and gender of the child.

I have been told the family we have been allocated has a 7 year old boy who we are to buy for. I have no idea what a 7 year old would love/ find exciting on Christmas morning. Please could I have some suggestions?

What a lovely idea. Lego is fairly universal for 7 I would have thought? Top trumps? UNO or other easy games. I’d go for fun things for that age over useful

In a stocking:
Hover football
Whoopie cushion
Top trumps
Scented pens
Joke book
Transfer tattoos
Chocolate coins
Bubble bath

okydokethen · 15/11/2024 10:29

Definitely top trumps!
Teddy
Maybe some shower gel
Chocolate
Fluffy socks

Apricotsucre · 15/11/2024 10:40

What a great idea! Can you share the charity name case others want to join in?

I have a 7 year old boy who loves
Football
Lego
Action figures
Board games like Guess Who

I would be careful with card games because the child might not have anyone available who can play the game with him.
Also don't get anything that requires batteries because he might not be able to get replacements.
Lego is a good choice. One of the £8.99 Creator Sets (several of which are currently reduced in many shops).
Maybe a "boyish" looking Squishmallow type toy.
Small craft sets. Again make sure it has everything provided - maybe get a pencil case with craft basics - pritt stick (get the novelty colours) and a pair of child safe scissors.

Are you looking for one present or a few small ones?

I would make sure that it is something that does not need batteries, as even if you provide them when they run out the family may struggle to get more.

I think I would aid for something that he can play with self sufficiently if you do not know anything about his home circumstances.

You can get some nice lego kits for around £20. The City lego is better value than the themed lego and you get more for your money.
Or a A wind up torch, a large magnet and a spinning top should come to about £20.
Or have a look in The Works. They have really good value art supply boxes with felt tips, paints etc. If you get that make sure you get plenty of drawing paper too.

It is a lovely idea.

Chocolate coins, a book(charity shops would be good for this), a small Lego set, notebook and pen and a moonball. Should take you to around the £20 mark.

My 7 year old boy loves colour. I would say don't be too drab in the colour schemes.

He loves toy cars, can never have enough apparently.

Loves Lego.

Loves colouring- always very happy to see new felt tip pens.

Loves magic tricks.

Loves his tilting maze puzzle.

Loves cuddly toys- particularly the TY Beanie Boos with the big eyes- they are very 'in' right now with 7 year olds it seems!

We had a big hit with a squeezy dinosaur in his stocking which shoots soft foam balls out of its mouth.

He loves torches, and enjoyed a lot the torches that project pictures onto the ceiling.

He likes his monster face beanie hat and gloves.
