I participate in a local scheme to give an anonymous Christmas present to someone who maybe wouldn’t get one. I’ve been allocated an unknown 15 year old boy. A selection box is a given and on top of that a gift for about £20 which can’t be toiletries. Any ideas? I’m in my 60s with no children or grandchildren, though I flatter myself that I’m compos mentis. Any help would be appreciated.

My son will be 15 at Christmas and his Christmas list includes:
LED lights for round his bed/shelves
mystery football shirt
Silver chain bracelet
Calvin Klein boxers
Ferrero Roche

hope that helps a little

It might sound strange, but what about some nice underwear and socks? At that age you're into the idea of potentially being close to a partner, but if you're that impoverished that a stranger is giving you a gift, underwear won't be a priority in your life so what you have might be pretty grim - a nice fresh set might make all the difference?

Are you allowed to buy a giftcard? If so, I'd buy one for a local place they can get a snack. I work with teenagers and they all of them go to town in various groups. It's a bit miserable for the ones who haven't got the money to pay for a snack after school like their mates.

Manbag
Nike crew socks
Zara aftershave
Fcuk bodyspray set
Anker soundcore earbuds (some under 20)

Some good suggestions. I can’t unfortunately buy toiletries (them’s the rules) and I have no idea about what size this boy is in order to buy clothing. Keep ‘em coming.

A football
Nice pens
A wallet
Nike socks
Gumball machine
Wooden 3d puzzles
Lava lamp/light projector for room

My son got Bluetooth portable waterproof speakers at that age - very well used. You can get these for about £20.

I think I’d opt for a selection box and voucher, something that can be used at multiple sports stores or coffee shops.

Toiletries are out
Clothes are out
Id also rule out an tech as you don’t know if the boy has a phone or anything like that so although he may have it’s not a risk I’d take.

Sports socks are safe, Nike, Vans
At a push a backpack but again that’s a personal style thing.

With a voucher he can choose his own things, buy a coffe when his mates are getting one etc.

Head to the nearest Sports Direct and buy anything which is Nike, Adidas or Under Armour. White crew socks are all the rage. Gloves or a beanie might be an option too or some sort of bumbag/man bag

Chocolate/sweets, a wallet and I’d stuff a bit of extra cash in with it, folded up.

fluffiphlox · 14/11/2024 23:12

Thanks one and all. There is a selection box included anyway. I think I might go down the nontech route. Who knows if he has a phone?! I might get the Nike socks and perhaps a voucher for a local pizza place if they do one. Thanks again.

Nike socks - white ones.

A pizza voucher or justeat is a great idea. Also Greggs.

We have a local charity who do this as well and they have an Amazon wishlist for ideas can you ask if they have one?

Thanks for responding but I know there’s not.
