Gift ideas for donation - older kids

Hello,

My DD has decided she would like to donate some gifts to our local charity who are looking for some gifts for older children. Mainly aged 13-16. I have no experience with kids this age so I'm looking for ideas of gifts they would genuinely like. Trying to do 2 but could maybe stretch to 3. So please help: what would your boys & girls 13-16 years old like please? She also wants to donate a care package to an elderly person & we are searching for an animal charity who need a gift too. (I know we could just send money but it's the picking of the gifts & making them look nice thats appealing to her)

Thank you!

Older teenage boys often get forgotten as they are harder to buy for. I usually buy a shower gel/deodorant gift set.

What a lovely idea. Maybe a power bank? Small card games? A nice beanie?

Thanks! I thought a lynx/shower set for boys, but I'm stuck on what else! These kids are often living in poverty so I don't know if they would even have a phone. I'm conscious that I want them to enjoy their gifts & be like other kids their age. I think this is why they're regularly left out as its so difficult to choose for this age group.
So boys I was thinking- lynx shower set, some sweets & I need a 3rd thing!
Girls - some body sprays - shower set - sweets & maybe a nice Hairbrush/bobble set.

Top trumps? Beanie hat or gloves can be bought quite reasonably.

I have a 15 year old ds, what about a rubix cube or something the child could do, football, and maybe instead of sweets a bottle of no/sugar pop.

Gloves and hat might be appreciated

Lego, one of the Uno games (there are a few to choose from now), basketball hoop for back of bedroom door (Argos have a good one), graffiti colouring book and pens, insulated mug/travel mug, pens, clear pencil case (they need these for exams), books, gloves, hot water bottle, oodie, sweets and chocolate

chariyoes tend to receive a lot less for teenage boys than teenage girls, if you’d consider putting your efforts there. What about

Nike water bottle

multipack of Nike white socks

clear pencil case, pen, highlighters, pencils, eraser, sharpener, scissors (you may not be allowed to donate these), glue stick

match of the day magazine

toiletries like hair and body wash, body spray

Dontletthebedbugsbite2 · 14/11/2024 07:15

These are all so helpful. I thought about a nike hat maybe, practical & also in style. I'm conscious I don't want to place any sort of burden on families already struggling so anything that will be enjoyed by the young person & also won't cause any issues for the family is ideal. I'll probably stick in a tub of sweets to share too for each person & a selection box. I'm lucky my DD is so thoughtful & kind & I've always tried to teach her to appreciate things. She's got a few of her friends on board to donate a gift instead of doing a secret santa this year so I'll share all these ideas with them too. All gratefully received thank you.

I pick for this age group (and 9-12 which is often overlooked too).

For 13-16 boys I get things like:
Board game or card game or sports quiz or similar
hat and/or gloves
Wallet
Tshirt or shirt or jumper or coat
Stationery like erasable pen, notebooks etc
Slippers or cozy socks
Face wash
Deoderant or aftershave
Shower gel
Sometimes books
Water bottle or travel cup

For that age girls much easier, basically similar to above but also:
Nail polish or manicure kits
Face masks
Lip gloss
Moisturiser/ skin care
Hand cream
etc

Gift vouchers are good if allowed too.
