I love Christmas. My DH has incurable cancer so I'm all about making memories. He's not fussed about Christmas but knows I am so will join in if he's able. I'd love to start some Christmas traditions that I can tie memories to. Can you tell me your favourite ones please? At the moment all I have is a new Christmas jigsaw. We had been going to one of the national trust properties to see it decorated for Christmas every year too but it looks like it'll be too expensive this year, so I'm thinking of replacing that with a Christmas market trip.
For context, no kids so I don't need anything that caters to children. We have family but no inherited traditions.

Sorry about your DH diagnosis. Lovely to put some traditions together.

Candlelit carol service
Drive round to look at the Christmas lights on people's houses
Read a Christmas novel together
We have a personalised family Spotify Christmas play list

Drinking hot chocolate with Cointreau whilst watching Die Hard.

Supper on Christmas Eve is Christmas cake, mince pies and Stilton because they’re nice but we’re too stuffed to eat them on Christmas Day.

Watching Home Alone on Christmas Eve.

Cinnamon buns for breakfast on Christmas Day.

Really sorry to hear about DH :(

In our family someone always gets a kite (varies on who!) and then we go for a walk to the beach on Christmas and fly it :)

Driving around to see the lights is a goodun too!

Smoked salmon and bucks fizz for breakfast

So sorry to hear about your DH, it must be a terrible time for you. Flowers

We like to go to a good Christmas market, pick up some Christmassy bits like nice cheese or whatever.

We watch as many Christmas specials as possible

I hope you can make some wonderful memories

So sorry to hear about your DH. My Dh too has incurable cancer.
We love Christmas and the the run up in December.
At the beginning of December we go shopping and stock up on lovely festive treats which we have on the weekends with a film along with a selection of drinks. Tree, twinkly lights and decorations up so it feels festive!
We go to the local pantomime with DD.

After work has finished for the Christmas period we go for a walk with other family and take a picnic of sorts including coffee/ hot chocolate which is always fun and everyone is in goods spirits!
We also do a stocking for each other which we both love.
Also attend the local carol service.
I hope you find some Traditions that you both enjoy.

Our local church does a Christmas tree display all decorated by different charities and groups.

I'd also recommend a candlelit service if you can find a church that does carols you know instead of high fallutin' stuff.

Definitely a drive round looking at the lights. Also if you can manage it and live somewhere suitable, go for walks around 1630 when people have their lights on but curtains still open and it looks so cosy.

I like to evoke smells and tastes of Christmas so nice baking for it.

A woodland walk with secateurs and gather greenery to make your own wreath and decs.

Old Christmas movies and radio shows with hot chocolate

Really sorry about your DH. This charity offers gifts to people with cancer and is lovely https://somethingtolookforwardto.org.uk

We decorate early so have Christmas tree up and smaller tree for the cat, Christmas stocking for cat and cracker for cat. Nice cakes from the bakers. Nice Christmas food. We go to things with Christmas lights pre Christmas. Hot chocolate. Mince pies. Have a Christmas songs gramophone and play a song a day in December. If you are anywhere near Norfolk the baby seals on Horsey beach are amazing to see, we see them when we can. www.horseygap.co.uk/seals

Thanks, hopefully he'll be with me for a few years yet, about 5-7 they reckon. it's incurable but not yet terminal so we're in a pretty good place emotionally and he's physically well enough to do most things.
I love all the suggestions so far, thank you!
@Penguinsn I love you have a small tree, stocking and cracker for the cat! I have a dog so that could be a good fun thing to try, it'd make him laugh I reckon.
Baby seals! This is definitely going on the list!
