I’ll start this by saying I know a lot of mums net hate him but is anybody doing the elf and want to share ideas. My little boy loves finding him and his antics… my teenagers love helping with him it’s a whole family thing….

i have also got a little brother elf (have a new baby this year) to bring after school treats in December xx

Our elf on the shelf wanted to go to space so we strapped him to a firework on Tuesday. Reminded the kids that space is a long way away so he might not be back for Christmas.

I'm telling my kids he's allergic to cats so unfortunately can't visit.

It's not for me but I do like hearing about what other elves have gotten up to.

Favourite one so far was when ours took the fairy off the Christmas tree and played card with her.

I refused to do elf on the shelf until last year - it actually wasn't that bad

My 4 year old (3 last year) loved the fact the elf missed the toilet and pooped in the sink.

he also really enjoyed elf stealing daddy’s PlayStation controller so he couldn’t play fifa and had to watch a Christmas film instead.

we have so much fun coming up with ideas we’re on year 8 now tho (oldest is 15) and my brain is fried currently xx

This is hilarious. Last year I was 7/8 months pregnant… being seen in hospital weekly some stays over night daddy was in control of elf who disappeared those days because daddy forgot. Bet he wishes we sent him to space. I’m glad to say normal service is being resumed this year x

It’s fun doing him when you can think of ideas. One year the dog did literally eat our elf 🙈 x

This is from last year. My daughter loved it!

One family I know has a couple of days each year where the elf plays hide and seek with the children, while they are in the room. The children are blindfolded, and music plays loudly, so they can't hear anything; and the elf hides so that only a bit of him shows. One at a time, each child is allowed to look, and it is noted how much time it takes to spot where he is.

@IceCreamplz
This made me emotional! 😂
It wasn't around when my DC were small and they would have absolutely loved it. 👏

I wish I'd never started - mine are 13 & 10 now. I think 13 was taking the piss when she said last night I wonder if he's coming back or whether elves only live for a few years....

But I can't be sure....I think I might send a pic of him in the elf old folks home

@BackToRealitySigh I feel your pain. I started it during covid when there was no fun to be had anywhere and the kidd loved it so much. Now they are 12 and 15. The 15 helped my last year but the 12 year old is so excited again....what have I done!! She's a bit old and I've done all the usual things. Last year they were quite clever and brought a section of an advent puzzle every day, they hid with it and she had to find them and the puzzle box. It was the best £15 I'd spent but now I am fresh out of ideas for this year.

Thanks guys. In the past we have done paper chains hung everywhere whilst asleep. School uniform wrapped up in Christmas paper. Always on 1st December he brings advent calander and enough Christmas cereal to last from 1st-24th December. We have played toys hid in the tree. Changed bedding whilst kids sleep. Bring Christmas cards for children to write to friends ect. All things we will normally do but the elf brings them. I also have lots of weekend baking to do with the middle two (oldest helps cook meals often and you get is too young) elf sometimes brings things for them to do or letters telling them there rooms are too messy. We really do enjoy doing the elf even if I do stress over what to do next xx
