Have said will buy gifts for 2 children from disadvantaged background. All I have is that they're boys & first name & age. Any ideas for generic boy gifts?

Can you ask their social worker? S/he’ll know as will their foster carer. Have you been given a limit on what you can spend?

What's the budget?

Lego set/lego character
Football
Shin pads/footie socks
Nike/Adidas sports socks
Obligatory Lynx set!
Annual - Lego, football, Minecraft
Trendy hoody/back pack
Funny game
Selection box
If budget allows a projector thing (if you know they have a smart phone)
Chess/backgammon set
Starter tool kit
One of those wallet ninjas for the older one
Sugru putty
3D pen
Book

I've just seen this on the FB page of a charity I support.

I’m a foster carer and have a few things for emergency teens over Christmas - An oodie or onesie, wireless headphones, lava lamp, Amazon giftcard, retro pac man type game, Lego, big toblerone, bubble tea kit and novelty socks

Thanks. I think the boys are just from an underprivileged family (got the being in care bit wrong). I'm going to contact the organiser to see if can get a bit more info on them as have found it nigh on impossible to find a generic boy gift as I was going to spend £25 on each one & don't want to waste it on a naff gift. Thanks again.

You can try but I'd not be surprised if the organisers/social workers don't have time to get back to individual donors about the child's needs. I worked on a similar scheme and just coordinating the collection and delivery of blind-purchased items was a resource -heavy task. Don't let it stop you buying something!

For this age I'd perhaps try to get something with a brand name. So Nike sports socks. Possibly body spray alongside. But I'd want something that still felt a bit play like - it's hard not knowing them but nano bricks, a football, a mini electronics game, keyring drum pad, a shapeable neon light.

For the older one I'd maybe consider a Bluetooth speaker or sand art (that you rotate and watch the new scape it makes)

for a distant relative who is in care they asked for a google voucher so that they can buy games/apps.

Unfortunately not allowed to give vouchers😒

Thanks. I'm going to look in TK Maxx & have a look. I'm making a meal of it I know & am sure they'll be glad of a gift of they don't have much. Will chuck in some chocolate & Haribos too.

Thanks. I've been given some good ideas on here & definitely won't let it stop me getting gifts for them.

You're not making a meal of it. It's nice that you're bothered and thinking carefully about it. Good luck
