Asda food deliveries

Hi,

I've decided I'm doing Christmas dinner at home this year so need to pre order all my fresh stuff.
Was going to do a click and collect as my local Asda have tons of slots still left for 23rd. My only concern is getting to this day and then being told certain items aren't available and they've had to offer swaps and substitutions.
Has anybody had any experience with Asda Christmas food deliveries?

you can choose no subs but i have had 30 missing items on busy days like sunday before.I dont trust it for important stuff like christmas. Morrisons i find very reliable

Posted about this a few times. Last year I had every single Christmas item substituted, including ten different party food items substituted for ten packs of tempura prawns. Never again!

On a normal week I've had lots of substitutions. Personally I wouldn't risk it.

Personally I've never had a problem with Asda click and collect/delivery. I've used them for donkeys years on a weekly basis - from well before the pandemic. Use them at Christmas /Easter etc. I think the most I've ever had is three substituions and they are normally relatively sensible, even at busy times. I might be lucky /have a sensible well stocked hub store though I guess! If you get it on 23 you still have at least 24hrs to panic and visit other stores if required.

Thanks for the responses everybody! May give Morrisons a try instead.

We get Asda every year, and there are always some subs, but I can't remember there being anything vital missing. Therefore I go for 23rd, and then that gives time to go to the shop for anything important that hadn't arrived on 23rd/24th! We live near quite a few supermarkets so I'm happy with that/can go on way home from work etc - but if you live in the country can imagine it would be very annoying!

It’s complete luck of the draw as to what is on the shelves at the time the picker is doing your order and whether they’ve had enough staff and time to get deliveries out on the shelves, as they aren’t able to check out the back for any missing bits. Unless you’re working on the basis that you will definitely need to go shopping yourself, even if only for a few bits, it’s a bit risky. But that’s the same for any supermarket who pick from the shop shelves, which is most of them.
