Making a gift

My husband has said he likes it when I make stuff for him - he buys what he wants and is very sentimental.

Usually I just cook stuff 🤷.

I'm thinking of making him something like a painting - and got curious about what else everyone makes?

Could you give him a collagen f photos of your time together?

That's my number 1 thought. But I'd like to make something independent of us

In the past, I've cross stitched and framed small pictures that are relevent to something we've enjoyed watching together that year (patterns from etsy). This year I'm needlefelting a gift. Baking something could be a good shout if you enjoy cooking.

@Rocknrollstar Rocknrollstar thanks.

@Octopies I've done cross stitching but it felt grannyish, like knitting. It's a beautiful skill though

I crochet so I'm making for my kids (19 & 21): throws that match their decor (one lives out one is at uni), slippers (careful they can be slippy on wood floors/stairs), beanie in football team colours, matching scarf, snood/hair net with matching fingerless gloves.
Obviously that requires you knowing how to crochet!
Bath bombs are easy to make if he takes baths.
As are candles (you can use a nice 'masculine' scent like sandalwood).
Or cologne.
How about taking one of those one day workshops? There's one where you burn designs into wood, learn how to sew a tie etc.
knitting is hardly grannyish! Footballers do it.

I make bags so have made a few of those over the years, this year I’m making him an apron, he loves cooking.

Cooking something sounds enough, but if you want to add something else, you can make a video with his photos, write some words about how much you love him, add the little jokes you have between you, add a song he likes, throw in some photos of you two together, etc. Basically a video about how much he means to you. I do this for birthdays sometimes, but I think Christmas is still a good day to acknowledge this!

Why would the pp be making "angry" helpful suggestions on your thread? I was going to make a suggestion but won't bother now that I see you're being unpleasant to a poster trying to help!
