If you were buying all new tree decorations what would you get?

I'm at the start of the divorce process following a very very traumatic split. I love Christmas and have beautiful decorations collected over the last decade.

I can't bear the thought of having them up this year and want to get new.

What would you get for a 7ft tree with a budget of £100 if you were in my shoes?? I like my tree to look elegant and coordinated but also something that is joyful after a hideous year.

I am buying all new for my new house at the moment. I have bought them all individually from The Range and B&M so far. I’m going for a gold, white, green and hint of red colour selection.
These are a small selection I got at the weekend.

Aldi have lights and bauble in, the range do good lights.
I got some baubles from vinted, someone had changed their colour theme

John Lewis theme them so I’d pick a theme and pick loads from that.

I would get a cheap set for this year and then go to town in the Christmas sales for next year. I got so many lovely mismatched decorations this year in the sales for 70%+ off I can’t wait to use them this year! I previously had generic sets of baubles and I’m bored of them now so went for colourful and random with a set of baubles for fillers.

I really like those old fashioned round silver bells, and the little tartan bows.
I did see some pretty baubles at the weekend, they were cream glass with a pearly finish to them. Sort of traditional but not too fussy is the look I like. I have so many decorations so don't need any new ones.
Hope your new Decs give you joy. Sometimes fresh looks can help you draw a line under the past, and have ideas and inspiration for the future. All the best to you.

Søstrene Green have some lovely Nordic Xmas decorations that aren’t expensive if you like that style.
I like simple white lights and a mix of baubles and felt and wood decorations but depends on your style.

I love home made decorations, so if you're crafty I would be tempted to buy some Christmas origami paper (£5 for a block of it in the works) and make paper stars and diamonds.

Alternatively, if a random supply from my collection would make you happy, I make them in the evenings and have run out of willing recipients so would be happy to post some. That may not provide adequate levels of coordination for what you want though.

I think in your circumstances, yes, I would want to get some new decorations, and maybe quite a few, but I also wouldn't want to commit to not using my old decorations again. So I would get stuff would go with the ones you have collected. And I would be tempted to try and make sure I still used a few of the old ones even this year, so I didn't create a mental block in my head. If you can bring them out for a fresh start you can start associating them with your new life, rather than them becoming ghosts of the past.

I would buy a big box of generic baubles in a simple colour - probably silver. And a few rolls of ribbon to tie bows with long traily ends - any colour you love. Add a good set of lights. That gives you a fairly simple tree backbone without too much expense,.so then you can add some beautiful more special bits that will sing in between.

I'd then add other, non-tree decorations - a garland, candle holders & candles, table centre, more fairy lights for.the hallway or porch or whatever.
