I haven't got a clue what kids this age like, mine is only a toddler.. I don't want to accidentally get them something too young

We are on a tight budget, I don't want to spend more than £10-15 per child

They like crafts, I thought maybe sand art might be fun?

I really don't know, open to any ideas please 🙏

Anything related to squishmallow is popular with my 6 year old. Lovely cat and unicorn pillows to sew yourself in hobby craft for £9. Air dry clay sets £10 ish on Amazon.

Mine are 6 & 8. It's a weird age as some girls this age still want dolls, but others want make-up!

Fortunately mine are still very much in the doll phase 😂

You can get fantastic craft kits in Hobbycraft - sewing, beads, jewel art ... especially over the Christmas holidays when the weather is crap, the parents would thank you for these !

Mine (roughly same age) are into: foil art stickers / magnets, bracelet making, loom bands, any “how to draw” cute kawaii style books plus coloured fine liners to draw with, watercolour tin and watercolour paper

Also top trumps are popular with them (loads of different themes available), uno, screwball scramble marble game from the 80s

Yep sand art could work, DD8 loves craft stuff. Magic potion kit, crystal growing, tie dye, anything like that would be a pretty safe bet.

Sequin art, mosaic art and scratch art are very popular with my 6 and 8 year old. Oh and beads, so many beads

ChickpeaPie · 31/10/2024 21:48

Loom bands are all the rage among mine

My daughter is almost 6. Anything in a surprise egg is a hit!

cry babies
lol surprise
mini verse babies/miniature toys
zombaes
miraculous kwamis
rainbowcorns

Bargainmax have some great deals on playdoh air dry clay at the moment, great for this age group.

Are they a book loving family?

Mine are a similar age and love all books, but particularly the DK Children's Anthologies. Various titles, their favourites are 'An Anthology of Intriguing Animals' and 'The Wonders of Nature'

You can usually get them for between £12-£15 with a little online searching, at least 2-3 titles are normally on offer at any given time.

Squishmellows are a big hit, all mine 7, 10 & 12 love them, my 7yo has been to 2 squishmellow themed birthdays recently.

My DDs are a mix of personalities when it comes to toys and makeup.

Jewellery making kits are popular with all three as well as colouring and art. Decent pencils, Posca type pens and decent colouring books.

I’ve just bought 2 squishmellows for £15 from Argos one for my 7yo and 10yo DDs, these are small but cute. Most supermarkets, homebargins etc.. are full of larger ones, I also bought a large one from Morrisons for £12 for 10yo DD as it was on her Christmas list, this is the same DD whose not even liked many toys since snout 6 years old and much preferred makeup.

Sand art sounds good!
Also squishmallows, lip balms, glittery everything (pens, stickers, notebooks), glowing stickers, led string lights. Also if you happen to know their favorite characters, you can make posters with their images or maybe poster calendars that they can have in their room(s). Also hair accessories are a big hit, or look into colorful hair extentions.

Sand art would be nice and if I were you I’d get the same gift but maybe a different style each. Siblings often want what the other has, especially when they’re two years apart!!

Air drying clay has been a great hit for my crafty 6 year old and as it gets used up it doesn’t matter if they’ve got similar already. Amazon has some nice packs with accessories, often on offer.
