What do you spend on people who make your life easier?

I am considering what gifts or vouchers (I usually do vouchers) for the following:
DC’s key worker at nursery - she is very caring and we love her updates
Childminder - looked after DC2 for over two years, very reliable and flexible
Cleaner - don’t have a strong personal relationship but she is hard working and reliable
I contribute to teacher presents for DC1 school and don’t do another gift.

I am not sure what a good amount is to spend on the first three but we value them all and want to show our appreciation. As I mentioned, I usually do a generic voucher (amazon, John Lewis, or the one you can use in lots of places) is that ok? I don’t give alcohol as I don’t know if they drink or not.

Our daughter's music teachers (extra curriculum) get chocolate and a card.

Nothing expensive.

Ah yes forgot the music teacher (instrument teacher), I will probably do a card for her. Same for dance teachers.

Dance teacher gets 'an end of year present' in May here. We buy it with one of the other families.
Teachers at school get at coffee voucher at the end of school year.

Childminder - I usually give a voucher equivalent to approx 2 days rates plus a token gift (DS only goes after school 3x a week though)
Cleaner - one visit's wages in cash in a card, plus a token gift for her and her son
Swim teacher and similar - £5 Costa voucher and some chocs

Maybe 50 pound voucher for the first 2, bottle of wine for the cleaner? If they don't drink they can always use it for a present themselves.

My cat & dog minders are getting a tin of biscuits (with cat/dog design on them) and a card that's "from" the cat or dog.

Not expensive but I know they'll love them! 😂

I give my cleaner a £100 John Lewis or Marks and Spencer's gift card. She is amazing and makes my life so much easier. I would give more if could afford to. For school I just contribute to the collective class gift.

I'm always stuck as to what to get our doggy daycare people, they are a couple about both 40 years old. I usually do a bottle of Prosecco and posh chocs. I'm tempted to buy them a cinema gift card this year though.

I give my cleaner an extra weeks pay
Nursery workers get wine and chocolates

Tbskejue · 28/10/2024 07:09

Hmm other people seem to give a lot on here but we’re on a tight budget; normally I give nursery and teachers chocolate but I’m going to spend more on our childminder this year as she’s gone above and beyond but I’m thinking more £25

JaninaDuszejko · 28/10/2024 07:11

I give my cleaner a weeks pay at Christmas. I don't like giving alcohol to anyone I don't know well.

I always give cash in a card as I don’t want to impose my taste on people who may much prefer or even need the cash. £100 plus a paid week off for cleaner. £20 each for hairdresser and beautician.
I did the same for nursery workers but did buy gifts for teachers and childminders

I give my dogwalker a box of biscuits or chocs and a £25 gift voucher (M&S/Sainsbury's).
