Might be a long shot but this board seems busier then the sen one. im really struggling this year for ideas for my autistic ds13. Every year is a struggle but I usually come up with something. This year I have not one idea and have multiple family members asking for ideas too!
I know every child is different im just looking for ideas to see if there’s anything we’ve missed.
for a bit more of an idea he’s non verbal. Probably still quite toddler like. Doesn’t watch tele or have any interested in an iPad or anything. His main likes are comfort, swinging, bouncing climbing. I feel like we own everything now which covers this!

Maybe a wall-mounted pull-up bar or a wobble board?

Forgottenmyphone · 28/10/2024 04:58

Galaxy room projector?

wiesowarum · 28/10/2024 05:03

A Squishmallow?
Weighted blanket?
Something to do with light projection/moving lights on the ceiling sort of thing?

Wall mounted pull up bar or wobble board used regularly here. Indoor exercise trampoline? Sensory toys. Vouchers for trips to local places he likes. Exercise Pilates type ball to bounce on. Headphones (noise cancelling)

We do

Board games
Books
Teddies (sensory stuff a bonus)
Switch games
Bath bombs
Mario merch
Clothes

This year he's getting a tv for his bedroom

Like a PP said, could family all contribute to something that is too expensive usually? That was my first thought.

Or membership to a local attraction he likes going to?

Have autistic dc too and agree it is tricky!

My autistic toddler is getting a balance beam for his birthday next week and I've seen a lot of families buying them for their autistic kids this year. It's just a foam beam that you put on the floor and it has textured stepping stones as well

romdowa · 28/10/2024 09:59

www.smythstoys.com/uk/en-gb/toys/pre-school-and-electronic-learning/play-factory/play-factory-balance-beam-set/p/236398 I forgot to include the link ! Smyths actually have a really good selection of sensory stuff

Singleandproud · 28/10/2024 10:03

Is his understanding and ability at toddler level or his likes and interests?

Art supplies, easel paints, crayons, pastels, canvases / large cardboard house he can paint and sit in.
Giant pack of cards - The Works had some almost A4 size ones, good for games like Higher or Lower (thumb up / thumb down) or building card towers depending on ability level.
Weighted vest
Tickets to accessible theatre show

My kid who is autistic loves this
https://elephantliving.com/products/the-elephant-mellow-x-little-puddins
Has a really nice sensory feel.

Thank you! This is the exact type of thing he would love. Washable very important too. I’ve lost count of how many bean bags we’ve been through

Thank you everyone very helpful. Some good ideas and some things I’ve never seen before. I think everyone putting money together for something big could be the way to go. Also didn’t think of tickets for accessible shows
