Looking for ideas for what to give my team for Christmas.

I have a budget of about £5-10 per head and obviously the lower end the better!

I've tended to get Christmas ornaments with their initials from Oliver Bonas and such, and last year for a few who'd pretty much carried us, I added bottles of their favourite spirits. This year I'm completely out of ideas any suggestions appreciated 💡

I have 11 people:

Female: 50s 2x, 40s 2x, 30s 1x
Male: 50s 1x, 40s 1x, 30s 2x, 20s 2x

OP posts:

Also whenever anyone starts a thread asking would you eat homebaked gofts about half the replies always seem to say no as they don't trust people's hygiene in the kitchen.

I have the same issue - want to keep costs down and I thought I might make some homemade shortbread or millionaires shortbread ( my personal fave) and package in a Christmassy box - when I said this to DH he was a bit 'meh' about it - what do you think? Good idea or not? I like baking and am pretty good ( I'm told) it would definitely keep costs down but don't want people to think it's weird....

What about making fudge or some sort of marzipan sweets ( either fruits or chocolate covered marzipan truffles) both really easy and you can buy some pretty little boxes to put it in or cellophane bags. Both would keep longer than baked goods.

I'd be very anti receiving a scratchcard!

Coffeesnob11 · 28/10/2024 07:11

Last year I bought these for my team. It worked for everyone and they all use them at work. They also are easily regiftable. www.oliverbonas.com/gift/kikkerland-elephant-wooden-phone-stand-314876

Probably more 75% won't 😂

This is a great thread. It’s my first time managing a team in a few years and I’ve had some low level stress about this. But there are some great ideas on the thread.
I’m really shocked that so many people are anti home made goods though. I love something home made.

DiamanteFan · 28/10/2024 07:35

ethical issues aside, I really wouldn't want any gift with my photo on it. The phone stand is great idea!

AltitudeCheck · 28/10/2024 07:35

A jar of local / farmshop posh pickled onions/ chutney / lemon curd / jam and a cheese truckle or small pack of crackers, pickled onion spoon or olive spoon to go with it. Different varieties based on what you think they'd like and they can always swap amongst themselves or regift if they don't like it

A nice mug or travel coffee cup (TK Maxx good)
Mini plants in a pot eg cactus or orchid
If they like coffee the Barista in a bag coffee pouches
Coffee voucher for local independent
If they drink:
a bottle stopper
Mini bottle of wine/champagne/cocktail with snacks (M&S do nice cocktail cans)
Mini cheese selection and nice crackers

Forum and mason every time. Small boxes of tea are about £7. Jam and marmalades £5-8. With the amount you are ordering you will probably qualify for free delivery

WillowTit · 28/10/2024 07:45

i gave my colleagues a Christmas Cactus one year

HangingOutInRaccoonCity · 28/10/2024 08:03

Stick with a £10 voucher in a card if you want everyone to be happy

ExquisiteIyDecorated · 28/10/2024 08:18

Please no to mugs or travel mugs, we can't seem to charity shop these fast enough, keep getting given them.

Purplemist · 28/10/2024 08:18

I have given diaries, glass paperweights, chocolates over the years but the best received have been a small wrapped selection box together with a store voucher.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, please keep them coming.

I REALLY like the idea of a honey spoon (for half a decade, my go to wedding present was 6 grapefruit/kiwi spoons, so very up my street.) but it's more spendy than my bank manager would be happy with.

Annoyingly chocolate is out for about 40% of the team. This is my gift to them, so not a secret santa vibe, although we may end up doing one anyway in addition to my gift to them if someone suggests it.

I'm loving the baubles and magnets, but may need to put in time to design one...

In budget honey spoon.

Get some pretty jars and fill with sweets or nuts or paper clips or anything else.

New £1 coins with the king's head, they have not been out long and there won't be that many produced this year. I know £1 sounds crap but with something else it could be good.

People must think I'm obsessed with coins but they have gone down well as gifts, most recently a couple who were getting married, both over 40 so didn't need anything for their house so I got them a silver sixpence. The new ones are out of budget but not the older ones.

My manager buys a selection of wines (Asda buy 6 and get 25% off) then we'd all draw numbers and go in one at a time and choose a bottle.

BetterCare · 28/10/2024 09:46

@Coffeesnob11 Idea is brilliant. If you look on Etsy there are different shapes so you could buy a different one to suit each team member and they are also a bit cheaper.

Ariela · 28/10/2024 10:18

One year I did personalised mugs, complete with hot chocolate kit/herbal tea kit/their choice of drink plus a few homemade shortbread biscuits which I made up myself and sealed in cellophane with ribbons etc, looked great. Most people kept their mugs at work. I also got given one for me (the team went and bought one for me) mine was the only one that got dropped and broken, sadly.

TimPat · 28/10/2024 10:40

I buy the l'occitane Christmas crackers which come in a box of 4 each with a mini hand cream and shower gel. Works out around £5 each when separated.

Personally I would love this as I LOVE homemade gifts.
My friend made me a sourdough loaf last year with some homemade jam.

Same. Why do people keep suggesting scratch cards? That’s literally a waste of the small budget and it would be like throwing money in the trash.

@Becles could you get chocolate for the folks who can eat it and a standardized alternative for the others?

BTW, Fortnum & Mason teas come in really beautiful tins for £9.95 and you could choose flavours people would like. Ex: https://www.fortnumandmason.com/apricot-honey-lavender-infusion-tin-30g

Small voucher each for local nice coffee shop/Costa? I love a treat coffee!

Yes please to this. Impersonal gifts are the best in circumstances such as this, and everyone can find something they like in a café even if it's several bottles of soft drinks.

Singleandproud · 28/10/2024 11:04

I'd go for the cute penguin fused glass decoration linked earlier or just a coffee shop voucher in the Christmas card.
