I’m looking for some suggestions for high end token gifts in the £40-£50 range.
What would you buy, or like to receive?

I’m a bit out of my depth because my idea of a token gift is £5 tops 😂

To be honest, anything you'd think of as a £5 token gift, just fancier. E.g. very nice bunch of flowers, box of chocs, bottle of wine..

liquidsquidli · 03/10/2024 16:55

Scarf but cashmere
Soap but diptique
Chocolates but Harvey Nichols
Champagne but tattinger
Hand cream but Chanel

I always love and indulgent candle to burn money

Mrsttcno1 · 03/10/2024 16:56

Ooo if it was me personally I’d say a Jo Malone or White Company candle/reed diffuser!

GettingStuffed · 03/10/2024 17:33

I'd look at some websites with nicest presents under £50 . That should give you some inspiration.

WWGD · 03/10/2024 17:47

I would be v happy with:

£50 John Lewis vouchers
Something nice and Le Creuset eg their cool garlic holder or posh mugs
posh smellies set
V posh oil in nice ceramic pourer

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 03/10/2024 18:25

For a man or woman ?
do you know them at all ?

one person's nice gift could be another persons waste of money eg. The only thing I'd like out of the suggestion above is the champagne but tbh £40-50 won't buy anything out of the ordinary there.

I would love a beautiful bottle of Amarone, meursault, Cloudy Bay Te Koko or a very high quality olive oil or Parmesan

Depends what they are into? I turned 50 this year and asked my Dad for a book token as I’m a total bookworm - I said he’d probably think it was the worst present to give me ever but the joy I’d have just wandering about buying books on a whim without having to try and justify it has given me such happiness. Sometimes it’s the simple things.

Book token/Amazon kindle voucher
new baking equipment
new baking books
really nice bottle of wine with a set of 2 glasses

Honestly, it depends on the person.
DH is awful to buy, he would appreciate books. a massage voucher or specific model train equipment I have to order for him from a list.
DD would enjoy all kind of earrings or fluffy things.
My mum would want pens and crossword puzzles en masse.
My MIL wants books and perfume.

High quality portable charger
Air humidifier
Custom planner
Pen+notebook set
High quality scented candles

I tend to buy a Diptyque solid perfume, I love Do Son or Orpheon. They are lovely to have in your handbag, very pretty, smell great and imo quite special.

poetrylover · 05/10/2024 18:34

Wool throw/blanket
Herb propagate/grower
Terrarium
Restaurant vouchers

Floralnomad · 05/10/2024 18:37

Who is it for

Kentishbirdlife · 05/10/2024 18:51

Go to a local shop and spend it at a small business. Lots of lovely candle stores, food hampers etc.

laraitopbanana · 05/10/2024 18:52

Charbonnel ❤️

Yeap Diptyque is a classic too.

buy a Vogue magasine. You will have some nice idea from new brands too.

The only thing I'd want around £50 is a Lego set.
Or my husband an Airfix model.

free money that must be spent on books, that would always be a winner with me!

That’s actually a really helpful way to think about it. Will also look at gift guides, and vogue for inspiration.

I have a few “who’s” in mind - it’s this year’s Christmas gift rule with my in-laws, we each 2 people to buy gifts for, but as there are 4 of us in our family, that’s 8 gifts to dream up and I don’t know which ones we’ll draw. And I also need 2 client gifts - so something a bit generic but nice (male and female, early 50s)
….so really any and all suggestions welcome!

Edited

£50 doesn’t stretch to as much Lego as it used to ☹️ but you e reminded me to add the flowers to my brainstorm!

Floralnomad · 05/10/2024 20:05

The Lego plum blossom tree is lovely and only £25 ish .

Needmorelego · 05/10/2024 20:24

@MrsForgetalot there's absolutely loads of Lego for under £50.
I love the Creator 3 in 1 sets. I bought the watering can with flowers set just the other day for 20 quid.

Overtheatlantic · 05/10/2024 20:26

A lovely throw blanket

retirementrocks · 05/10/2024 22:37

Half a case (6 bottles) of good wine!
