He is ND. No interest in clothes, shoes etc does not go out, doesn't read. He skies but has all the equipment for this. He only wants money. We are going on a £10k holiday for his 18th next year. His choice of activities/holiday. He said this is all he wants to do and he wants nothing for Christmas as there is nothing he wants. I want to get him something to unwrap.

Any ideas ?

Find a fun way to give him the money? Put a load of fivers in a load of balloons, or gift wrapped boxes

I got a Christmas Box with his name ( it was a BOGOF , I got one for DD) and put a £10 in each page with fancy paperclips . (£!00)
3 gifts in 1 Xmas Grin

How much do you want to spend? Driving lessons is an obvious one for a 17th birthday, if his ND doesn't preclude this.

Does he buy his own toiletries out of his allowance, or do you buy them? If it's the latter you could get him whatever his preferred deodorant, shower gel etc is - at least that will save him money layer on.

Same with clothes - he going to need new socks and pants at some point - they don't have to be novelty ones, just get him the ones he normally likes wearing.

Is he at school or college? Can you get him equipment he needs for his course if so?

I realise none of this is fun, but he has said he doesn't want fun stuff.

Lonely Planet travel guide to the place you are going on holiday - or to future possible places, as it sounds like travel is an interest for him?

Does he have sufficient luggage? Luggage tags/passport holder? The first gift my husband ever gave me was some beautiful designer luggage tags - really they are a bit pointless, but a thing of beauty is a joy forever - I have treasured them to this day!

It sounds as if your son might value practical gifts.

Outdoors shops like Cotswold Outdoor have big waterproof holdalls/kit bags in various colours. Brands like Rab, Mountain Equipment or North Face. Some just have handles, others detachable rucksack straps as well.

Really useful gifts at this age as so handy for long or short away/camping/off to Uni. Perfect for ski gear. I've bought these for all my own teens /nephews/nieces and all still in use well over a decade later.

Even at this advanced age, the Waboba moonballs and throwing toys/frisbees from the same shop have also gone down well as stocking fillers.

Book him some driving lessons to see if it is something the would be interested in. Get him a provisional licence too, handy to have for ID anyway.

Is there anything ski related he could have like a private lesson somewhere?
