Ds13 is getting a gaming pc, monitor, headset, gaming mouse, new Diddly Squat Farm book (he's obsessed with clarkson), and the new deadpool dvd.

Octaviusoctober · 12/10/2024 07:48

Great ideas, whatever solution is de janerio are they sets with lots in

ZuckketyZuckZuck · 12/10/2024 07:58

Books and a bit of cash - has expensive hobbies so doesn't get much at xmas.

MammaGnomes · 12/10/2024 10:14

DD11 has just had her birthday so I'm really struggling for ideas. Things ahead got that might help others

White fox hoodie
Cheap version of a dry robe
Earrings (recently had them pierced)
All the p Louise (had her party there so she's swimming in the stuff)
SDJ spray (also swimming in the stuff)
Byoma skin care
Starbucks voucher
Some new outfits
Nail varnish set that goes on like gel but without the lamp
iPad

I did 11 gifts which really helped me not overspend. I want to do something similar for Xmas but can't think what/how?

Only ideas I have so far for Xmas are

White fox co ord
Pandora
Watch
Photo printer and scrap book (thought it would be nice for last year of primary memories)

KatLiz · 12/10/2024 17:22

DD12 has asked for 2x HP Lego sets, Taylor Swift stuff, Zelda amiibos and a Zelda Switch game. I'll also get her a mirror with lights, some earrings and hair accessories. Oh, and books - she usually reads 2 books a week so always needs more!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 12/10/2024 18:12

12yoDD this includes from us and grandparents.

Nebula/Mantis funko pop
Nebula sign
2 more Nebula Funko pops for her collection (guess who her favourite character is!)
Dr Who card game
Mantis Christmas funko pop which I have had signed and personalised by Pom Klementiff - I can’t wait to give her this!
Byoma starter set
Satin PJs
Dr who magazine subscription

Ive got 2 things left to buy

A pair of Converse
Boxing/dancing Punch pad

Ilovelurchers · 12/10/2024 19:30

For her main present I have got West End theatre tickets and overnight London stay, plus tickets for an exhibition she will like while in London.

Smaller things:
Plushies
Sweets
Hair and skincare stuff
Makeup bag
Pin badges
Cute stationary
Stuff for her room - blanket, cushion, ornament, coasters. A light that I am not now sure she will like but I got that second hand dead cheap so not too worried.
A few second paper backs from the charity shops
A fluffy lougewear type outfit (shorts, dressing gown, top).

I think that's it really

Juliagreeneyes · 13/10/2024 22:41

So far for DD I have a small lamp for her room, a string of fairy lights, some jewellery, and some books. Not much so far as none of these are especially expensive. One thing she would love would be an Apple watch. But her dad would have to fork out for that one!

She likes art materials and craft, but is also getting into music and beauty stuff. I went to look at the Sol de Janeiro perfumes as all her friends seem to have them and I could hardly tell them apart - they all basically smell like popcorn and are far too sweet and cloying for me! Not sure I could stand her spraying those around the house 😂

Any recommendations for a not-extortionate fragrance for a young girl that is fresh and light, and maybe a bit quirky, but not too sweet? At her age I started out with Sunflowers and the ozonic-style perfumes that were in fashion then - think New Wave by Aramis, or the lighter ones by Kenzo. All the Sol de Janeiro ones seem to be basically channelling the really heavy too-sweet perfumes of my youth like Dewberry or Angel (which still makes me heave 🤢)

ProbablyOnlySellOne · 15/10/2024 12:23

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS please can you tell me more about the punch pad? I haven't heard of these before but just had a quick google and they look quite good. Is there a particular one you are getting? Wondering how easy they are to install/how much space you need etc? Also, can just anyone use one or do you need to have some idea of what you are doing (in which case that rules it out in this house!!) Thanks

Things I'm getting for DD12:
White Fox Hoodie and socks
Label Maker
Twilight books and Lottie Brooks Christmas book
Ted Baker perfume
Revolution Lip Gloss
Hair clips/cheap jewellery
Electric bead spinner
This all sounds a bit rubbish now I've written it down, may need a rethink.

My daughter will be 13 in February. She's really not a girly girl. Struggling to know what to get her.

Next do some nice fragrances - my DD12 especially likes PINK as it's nice and light

DS has just turned 11. We got him a 3-D printer and a big Toblerone - he’d got all this way and never tried one! He says it was worth the wait.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 15/10/2024 18:39

@ProbablyOnlySellOne i actually don’t know much about them. I’ve been reading reviews on Amazon and will go with the best one. My thoughts are go for a fairly basic cheap/midrange one to see if it takes and if it’s well used I can look at something more specialised later.

My DD hasn’t had any experience, I don’t think it’s required. From what I’ve read they seem easy to install.

ProbablyOnlySellOne · 15/10/2024 19:56

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS Thanks very much for that. Sounds like a good strategy to go for a basic one and see how much use it gets. I may do the same. Thanks for the idea, I like throwing in a random gift that they wouldn't be expecting.

My daughter will be 13 in February. She's really not a girly girl. Struggling to know what to get her.

My DD is 13 next month, and also not a girly girl, so I'm struggling too. I've so far got her some lego flowers kits (plum and mini flowers) and some of her favourite Funko Pops. I'm truly stuck after that.

My only other ideas are Euros for an upcoming winter holiday, Hobbycraft vouchers and vouchers for HMV and other stores she sometimes buys stuff from (she likes specific Anime, but has most of it)

Redragonoteal · 15/10/2024 21:12

DD12 will be getting a piece of kit for her hobby either from us or IL's. I try to stick to 4 gifts plus stocking.
She hasn't asked for anything yet, she might ask for HP Lego or a switch game.
I normally buy her a book but this year she "inherited" an old e-reader so I might get her a voucher or download some new books to it.

I'm toying with the idea of suggesting we get a gaming laptop for both the DC as a joint gift as there are a couple of games I'm sure they'd like which aren't available on Apple. I don't think DH will go for it though! I'm not sure encouraging more gaming is a good thing, but I honestly don't know what else to get DS14.

@RainbowZebraWarrior archery kit? Darts board? Martial arts lessons? Something totally random like a glass blowing course? Does she draw anime? If so, supplies for that.

What about tickets to an Anime event. We got our DDs comic con tickets last Christmas, they were such a hit they convinced us to attend 4 other cons throughout the year. There are anime specific cons or general comic cons with anime actors/actresses attending. My 10yo dressed as her favourite anime character at the last con we went to and there were loads dressed just like her.

One of my favourite gifts this year is a Funko pop I’ve got one of my DDs, the Funko is nothing special but I sent it off to one of the comic con events and had the actress who plays the character sign and personalise it. I can’t wait for her to open it.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/10/2024 14:10

@Redragonoteal ooh I think you may have hit on something with the archery thing. She did it at school and loved it so I might book her on to a one to one course. I saw one as a prize recently at the church fair, so there must be something local. Yes, she loves to draw anime, but has sketchbooks in all sizes. We are building up a collection of faber castell Pencils though so I also need to look at storage for that.

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS We went to our first Anime convention this summer. I bought a weekend ticket, and she loved it but only managed one day (Autistic overwhelm) I'll see when the tickets come back out again for that as its in our City so doesn't require travelling. I'll just buy a one day ticket this time.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/10/2024 14:12

@ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS also, what a great idea about the personalised Funko!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 28/09/2024 14:27

My 12yo DD has asked for make-up brushes, a cork board for her room and a lyric print of an Olivia Rodrigo song.

A few ideas I'm considering...
Stackers jewellery box
Pandora bracelet and charms
Lego flowers
Art canvases and supplies
Skincare bits
Mirror with lights
Game - maybe Pictionary air
Bath shelf
Olivia Rodrigo merch but no idea what!
Clothing vouchers
Chocolate fountain
Squishmallow
Sweet hamper
Books

Bloody hell and a partridge in a pear tree?

HelenHywater · 16/10/2024 15:01

Not really much idea, but I'll get my 12 yo dd a pair of headphones because she keeps stealing my airpods, Mean Girls tickets and some anime stuff.

My dd isn't interested in makeup or perfume or clothing really (she's likely autistic).

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/10/2024 15:25

@FrancisSeaton, I can't work out why that was called for, but I hope your day gets better.

If you read my post you will see it says 'ideas I am considering'. In reality I'm one of the people who generally gets called 'mean' and 'joyless' for the doing the want, need, wear, read thing and my 3 DC are 'poor kids' so it's a refreshing change to imply I spoil them!

But I always have to have a few ideas up my sleeve because grandparents, aunts and uncles on both sides are incapable of thinking of presents for themselves.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 16/10/2024 17:43

@RainbowZebraWarrior from our experience this year we found the Sundays were far quieter than the Saturdays at the cons we attended. We also found Saturdays get busier in the afternoons because a lot of people attend later in the day to go to the after parties.

On one weekend we attended Saturday morning, ticked off our 2 celebs then left, going back the Sunday to enjoy the traders and anything else. We found it less overwhelming splitting our time that way.

DD is 11.5

She’ll be getting (from family too, not just us)
lego pyramid
lego kingfisher
lego roses
another squishmallow
Books
earrings
A bath bomb making set

She has zero interest in beauty items or clothes.
