Anyone got any recommendations for a microscope for a 9 year old? She is science mad and we really want to encourage her interest. Looking for something that is not too expensive but not just a toy.
Thanks all!

Thank you for the link. I was hoping for some recommendations though.

Don’t have a specific link as a long time since I have bought one but Amazon usb microscope gives some options and much easier than trying to look down a microscope.

We have a fantastic one. It's a small, portable one, which I feared may be a bit gimmicky when I ordered it, but it is phenomenal. We use it loads. My daughter is also 9, and is perfectly capable of using it alone understand how to focus etc. Let me look at my amazon order history, and I'll try to link the exact one.

This is the one, though looks like you'd have to find a different seller, as it doesn't seem to be available at the moment...We paid £20, and I'm honestly amazed at the quality for that price.

We love that it is portable - it is a similar size to a travel-sized hand sanitiser bottle, and so it easily fits in a bag - and we take it out and about or on holiday frequently. For a beginner, it's superb. If you go for this one, it's worth finding a little bag to keep it in though, as I imagine it could get scratched up easily in a bag or pocket. We just use an old cath kidston zip pouch thing, which is the perfect size for it.

Does she have a phone? I bought ds one that clips onto his phone camera and he loved it.

We have a portable one too which is really good but it's quite footery to get it just right if you're looking at things in the palm of your hands. I think it was £10 or there abouts.

It does look great, thank you. I hadn't considered a portable one but that's got me thinking!

It looks amazing, but probably out of our budget! I'll keep it in mind though.

She doesn't have a phone, but we could attach it to our phones. Thanks!
