Talk to me about yoto players!

My son will be 5.5 this Christmas, really in to stories, theatre etc. Struggles to switch off at bedtime and has only just stopped needing us sat with him (for hours!) to get him to sleep.
Looking at the yoto players but overwhelmed with the choice!
Mini or full size?
It would probably be used mostly at bedtime but I do imagine he'd enjoy taking it out in the car/train etc too.
Any recommendations on stories too please?!
Or if a tonie box is better?! Help!

Yes please!

Have messaged!

My 4 year old loves her Yoto, listens to it every night. I second the pp who recommended the Ladybird adventures, they've definitely been the biggest hits so far. We keep all the cards in a CD book type thing from Amazon.

My DS has the larger one (he's 3) the sound quality is better, and he likes to see the pictures. In all honesty I can't recommend enough, generally speaking. I don't have a mini so can't really compare although would obviously be easier for trains, in the car I'm happy to take the larger one as it's still fairly small and DS will either hold it or have it in the seat next to him so it's no burden.

I looked at the tonie too but tbh apart from younger children liking the figures i don't see much pull. Yoto has a wide selection of content for the very young up to much older children plus several radios, sleep sounds, alarm, yoto daily with jokes/facts etc, timers, songs... as you can probably tell I'm pretty much in love with it.

Perhaps have a browse online with the content on Yoto/Tonie to which will capture your sons interests now and when he's a bit older. I believe Yoto also has a comparison for the big one v the mini to help.

Here's a 10% off code for Yoto if you do decide to go with it: prz.io/6X2Ozpzu1

Just seen your other comment we store all our cards on keyrings, because my DS is little I break them up into morning cards and bedtime cards - but you may be able to trust your son not to listen to music in the night, i can't 😂

Don't hole punch though if you search on amazon/etsy yoto card tabs and rings, there are little stickers and coloured rings you can attach to the cards.

My little girl is 5 and loves her Yoto! We get lots of the cards of Vinted too quite reasonably. It’s lovely as a wind down activity but she also listens occasionally in the daytime. And shows it off to everyone who comes round to the house, child or grown up 😂
One thing I’d say is we got it for her for Christmas last year, originally wanting to get the mini but they had sold out everywhere - we left it a bit late to be fair! But just a heads up they are popular round Christmas time.

Mine aged 3 and 8 have a mini each. Perfect for travelling and use at home. Both absolutely love it and we have lots of cards to suit their different ages and interests.

Make sure you buy new to ensure you get the warranty. One of ours broke after ten months but they replaced it with with just a confirmation of my original order (which wasn't from yoto directly, was another retailer, but they still replaced it no problem. Their customer service is very good).

Sorry another question, headphones..do I need to yoto specific ones or will it work with universal ones?

Any headphones will work.

You can upload content in the app, on the website or you can record in the app and upload that way too.

You can also link radio stations and podcasts to a card.

We have a mini and a big Yoto. My DSs use interchangeably. We take the mini's when we travel. They have an app on CarPlay for Apple so we use that when we drive.

Well I've just ordered 12 cards off vinted so I suppose I better order the box 🤪

We keep the cards in two credit card wallets as they are the same size
