We hosted a Christmas party last year which was great but I laid on far too much (savoury) food and it was only supposed to be nibbles.

This year I'd like to do a sweet treats table.

So far I've got:
Mince pies
Christmas cake slices
Stollen bites
Gingerbread men (not so sure about this one?)
Christmas cupcakes

Any more ideas gratefully received 🎄

I think you have enough there.

Keep some Lebkuchen biscuits/or some Lindt truffles/Ferrero Rocher hidden away to bring out in an emergency (then you can have them for yourself if you don't need them😏😂)

Fruit kebabs, mini meringues or macarons,

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/09/2024 15:57

Homemade chocolate truffles

Comedycook · 16/09/2024 15:57

Looks plenty to me.

Maybe glace fruits...they are very christmasy.

EveryKneeShallBow · 16/09/2024 15:59

Fruit kebabs is a great suggestion I’m always desperate for something fresh at Christmas

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 16/09/2024 16:00

Definitely need more variety for those who don't like mixed fruit

Mini yule log?

hattie43 · 16/09/2024 16:05

I think you're too heavy on the fruit / mincemeat stuff , not everyone likes mince pies etc , I'd definitely add a fruit cheesecake
and something chocolatey .

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 16:08

Ah!
I forgot the Yule log!!

Love all your ideas.

Lindors and Lebkuchen sound great!

@HarrietBond

I think I may have made the Nigella clementine cake years ago... is it the one where you boil up whole clementines?

Yep, that's the one. It feels all kind of wrong in the making. 😁

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 16:09

@hattie43
That's true re dried fruit based stuff.

Yule log and another big dessert might be the way to go.

@HarrietBond
😂Indeed but I think it was quite tasty??

HarrietBond · 16/09/2024 16:11

Yes, it really is. In fact, I must do it myself this Christmas.

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 16:12

Oh wow @TheSquareMile
That's amazing....thank you for taking the time to do that!
I will have a proper peruse later when I have more time.

Love Delia 🩷
Always make her traditional Christmas cake in November.
No bugger eats it but the stirring and making a wish is nice.

I don't like any of that! Needs something chocolate or lemon, or pavlova.

gardenmusic · 16/09/2024 16:16

A lovely snowy, peaky pavlova.

OMGitsnotgood · 16/09/2024 16:38

Depends whether you want things people can pick up in their hands (your list), in which case you could add Rocky road, quick and easy to make lots, dust lightly with icing sugar for the seasonal effect.

Or if bowls and spoons Nigella does a tiramisu with Baileys (or a cheaper Irish cream) mixed with the coffee, again easy to make a large amount.

We also love Nigella's Clementine cake mentioned above.

mitogoshigg · 16/09/2024 16:41

Leberkuchen (lidls are nice) marzipan fruits, strawberries dipped in chocolate. But I would get savoury too because plenty of don't have sweet teeth - I'd prefer a cheese board

Definitely pick up in their hands so rocky road alpine style sounds perfect!

Not going down the savoury route this year...party is probably going g to be 2-5pm so not a meal time.

A cunning plan...

Nigella's Clementine Cake, with or without chocolate on top. It feels massively Christmassy without being mincemeaty.

I Bake on Mondays: Nigella's Clementine Cake

That has always turned out disappointingly for me, annoyingly!

OP, it sounds to me as if you're an over-caterer, whether it's sweet or savoury!

The only thing I would say is that I think people will eat less sweet stuff than they would savoury in the same timeslot. People will nibble salty things they're not necessarily hungry for while drinking, but honestly, even having a healthy appetite, I would struggle to eat more than one or two of things like mince pies/stollen/slices of Christmas cake. I think you feel 'sweeted out' far more quickly. Wouldn't it make more sense to offer a few savoury things too, but with restrained amounts of everything?

What will people be drinking?

Whatwouldnanado · 16/09/2024 16:57

Fruit salad
Boozy chocolate mousse.

MonkeyTennis34 · 16/09/2024 17:54

@MordantandPuckish
I guess I could put out a few dishes of nuts, tortillas etc!
