What sort of advent calendar do you do for DC?

I have a DD aged 2.

I can’t decide whether to buy a felt hanging advent calendar to fill myself each year (perhaps a little chocolate and a small gift) or whether to just stick with the £2 cadburys advent calendars we had growing up! I also have lots of Christmas books and like the idea of wrapping them all up for her to open one each evening for her bedtime story.

What does everyone else do for young DC?

I do a Christmas book advent calendar with my 4 year old. The first 2 years it was 12 days of Christmas as we didn't have 24 Christmas books but have now picked up enough to have one each day. The only thing is the later date books don't get as much chance to be read so I'm wondering if just getting them all out on December 1st and a different advent calendar would be better - but she has (and I have) so far loved unwrapping a new Christmas book each morning and reading it before starting the madness of the day.
