Talk to me about Christmas food delivery slots

I’m looking to have a Christmas grocery delivery this year after always vowing to be more prepared!

Any advice on which are the best for Christmas food shops? I usually use Ocado but I think I need to sign up for a delivery pass to be able to book a Christmas slot as I couldn’t book one this year.

Does Ocado make many substitutions at Christmas time? Do you just reserve the slot and then add your shopping at a later date?

I have a delivery pass for Tesco so get early access to Xmas slots.

I get up at an ungodly hour to get one as soon as they're released.

I log on on my phone and tablet and get in two queues. One year everyone on the app was getting in much quicker so I cover both bases.

You can just put one thing in your basket and checkout, go back closer to your delivery date to do your full shop. That said...

I do the shop a good week or so before and try not to go back into it to change anything after. If something isn't on the shelf when you're trying to order you can't get it in your basket. The earlier you do it the more likely the stuff you want will be there, or you'll at least get a substitution. If you're constantly in and out changing things closer and closer to the delivery date you'll find different things you want are in/out of stock each time just due to it being xmas.

Tesco subs are usually quite decent (unlike Asda, wow do I have some stories about their subs and constant 'not availables' hence why I ditched their home delivery).

Never ever book a Xmas Eve slot. Although I don't think Tesco do these anymore anyway.

Book a slot for early morning so the stuff is picked early before the real life shoppers get in store

Welcome to the life of Christmas grocery online shopping Confused 😂
