Wrapping Paper

What theme or colour scheme are you going for this year?

Or do you have plenty left over from last year and not need to buy any?

I have decided to go for a mismatch of colours/styles this year. I think I’ve been a bit too try hard in other years so want to just go fun this year.

I have seen some nice ones on Matalan, Next and John Lewis but not gonna get any yet until all the shops have it out in case I seen some I prefer 😀

Next website has some lovely Christmas paper.
Hopefully it'll go on the boxing day sale so I can buy it for next Christmas.
I always buy in January sales because it's cheaper and makes a nice surprise when I go to wrap gifts because I always forget what I picked up 😂

@AntigoneFunn

I really miss the wrapping paper you used to be able to get in Church street Market (and no doubt elsewhere!) in the 1970s and early '80s which was so thin it was almost translucent, but always covered with really jolly vintage looking designs, like no-one had bothered to change the pictures since the 50s. You used to get 10 sheets for a quid

Me too, I hanker for it every year. And every time I think I've found some online, it turns out to be some weird 'print your own' template thing.

If anyone does see any old fashioned, not at all stylish, vintage paper already printed, please let me know!

last year I bought reusable gift bags of various sizes, these are only for people who will be here Christmas Day so we can get them back! But hopefully other people will start doing this too. We got some nice velvet ones and some cheaper cotton ones & tarted them up with ribbons etc.

I always went big with my wrapping. One year when Cox and Cox did a big November time discount, I bought all their paper and wired ribbons in their black, cream and gold schemes. Copied their wrapping techniques on their website. My presents looked spectacular. Wasted on an abusive ex who didn't even turn up to open them, so I can't bring myself to do it again, as that was probably the worst Christmas I've ever experienced.

I just use a mismatch of what I've got left over each year now. And yeah, it looks a hotpotch of gifts, even prompting teen DS last year to say "remember when your presents always used to look so cool mum, are you ever going to do that again?" But it is what it is.

Probably a bit heavy for what this thread is about, but feels quite therapeutic to get it off my chest.

@LePetitMaman I would absolutely make this the year you reclaim Christmas, and go all out with your gifts. Your life has moved on, you enjoyed doing it, and now you can do it for your DS and loved ones who will appreciate it. If it makes you happy... snatch it back from that bad memory and make lovely happy ones. 🌟
