Ideas for DD8 and DS6

If this appears in chat - yes I am aware it's August. This is on the board for people who enjoy planning for Christmas all year round.

Any ideas yet for your 6-8 year olds?

My children have just had their birthdays. DD got a guitar, skateboard, couple of Monster High dolls, books and craft stuff. DS mostly Lego and Marvel toys as well as books and craft stuff.

We also got them a magazine subscription each.

For the first time ever I'm pretty stumped for Christmas!

Can you do a day out voucher for them, or like a cinema/bowling etc card.

My son (6) has a skateboard and wants a ramp to go in the garden and a basketball hoop. He liked the novelty of feeling grown up with his wallet last year of my mum getting him a gift card for a local cafe (like Greggs I guess) so he was able to get a cake etc for a while with a £15 card.

An illuminated drawing board / lights up so you can trace from it from things like comics and magazines etc.

Something to look forward to in January e.g. escape room tickets- some aren't suitable for kids but there's a wizarding themed one near Liverpool St that is excellent. We've also done a pirate themed one locally.

A few small things to play with on the day. It's always handy to have something the kids can play with together that doesn't require parental input so they can play while you make dinner - a silly card game or a classic like pick up sticks or a video game. Lego.

Other gifts that are more long term that may need you to sit down with them: Sewing machine/ electricity kit

Something to read: my DS is apparently an excellent reader at school but the only books I can persuade him to read at home are graphic novels! Bunny vs Monkey. Investigators etc.

Something to wear that is a bit special e.g. a soft faux fur jacket or ugg-style boots for dd

Yes they always get bits like that. Love the idea of tickets to something, will have to have a think of what we could book for Jan

My DD is 6 (7 at the end of Jan) and I've picked up the following in the sales/second hand as I tend to buy for Christmas and birthday together. Also following this thread for ideas!

Puppy switch game
Fidget lanyard
Duvet cover
Microphone
Simbrix
Fluffy backpack
Big pack of sharpies
Dance mat
Slime snail game
