A few days in London instead of gifts?

I'm debating if this is a good idea/feasible/affordable.

Dh and I have 3 dc in varying ages from 16 to 21.

Instead of gifts that I'm not sure I have the inspiration for this year I was thinking about doing stockings and a long weekend in London to see the Christmas lights, a couple of shows, museums etc?

We'd try and stay fairly central - I've never used air bnb so not sure if that would be cheaper and I've heard nightmare stories 🤔

Have you done this? Any tips or advice? Or was it something you wouldn't do again?

I would take them to London yeah, but still get a few 'bits' to open on Christmas day. Maximum £30 each. Like chocolates, smelllies, wine or beer for the older ones, a jigsaw puzzle, a pair of silver earrings (can get a pair of studs from Argos for six to eight pounds,) a pair of gloves, a novelty Christmas gift etc...

My children are 11 & 12. We are doing 5 gifts plus a stocking and heading to dubai over Xmas and NY. We spend far too much on stuff we don't need nor use. Alot of it ends up broken or in landfill... Experiences and memories trump it for me.

DD and I have been to ABBA Voyage the past couple of years ( Dec last year , Nov the year before ) we're a trainride from Stratford .

Not a Christmas present but its part of our tradition to go somewhere .
