What’s fashionable for this age range?

Maybe a better idea would be a Fragrance Shop/boots voucher so she can have fun choosing her own ? Especially if you don't know her tastes very well, it would be pointless buying Billie Eilish for my Dd no matter how fashionable as she can't stand her.
dd would be absolutely beside herself to have £25 to spend on a perfume that she chose herself

Edited

It just tends to get a bit like a voucher exchange some Christmases. I think I will steer clear of celeb fragrances though.

Britney Spears Fantasy.

Honestly it's like a rite of passage for any young girl.

And there is a good chance you may want to have a spray of it every now and then.

I have the blue one and I'm 54 😃

I’m going to steer clear of celeb ones I think.

Not sure if it is fashionable, but Anais Anais?

PourUsAGlass · 14/07/2024 09:22

Marc Jacobs Dot is absolutely beautiful x

CrossingBoundaries007 · 14/07/2024 09:22

As a PP mentioned Zara. Their perfumes last all day and are not too pricy at all.

Besideourselves · 14/07/2024 09:22

Glossier You suits my teen.

mitogoshi · 14/07/2024 09:25

I nice floral fragrance from one of the less popular but still famous fashion designers/make up brands eg I believe ought my dd Elizabeth Arden perfume at that age which was around the £30 mark with a shower gel included too, a nice shaped bottle is also good. She actually asked for "kiss" I think it's called the year before, sold in Asda (they have some locked in a cabinet, but only £10!)

I know we all tend to think that it's nicer to have a gift but unless you're absolutely sure that the recipient likes a particular perfume it's a bit risky choosing something for them - and remember that most teens don't have control over much money so Christmas and birthday is a chance for them to do a bit of spending where mum and dad aren't screening every purchase.

or at least that's what it's like in our house, Dd gets very excited at having a voucher to spend, particularly for somewhere where she doesn't feel she has to buy something "more sensible" with it. So someone buying her a Fragrance Shop voucher that was enough for a whole bottle of something decent would be met with very high levels of approval.

is asking her mum to do a bit of research on your behalf an option ?

My DD (13) got some Vera Wang princess for Christmas which she was very pleased with.
Also second the sol de janeiro and Victoria's Secret which seems to be the thing with teen girls atm

longdistanceclaraclara · 14/07/2024 09:37

It's all SDJ and Victoria Secret here. I wouldn't buy perfume without knowing what they want and definitely not AG or Britney!

What is your budget?

My dd is just out of teen years, but also doesn't really follow the trends. Her go to fragrances are:

Alien (she has been told to not overspray as I find it so strong)
Scandal JPG
Juicy Couture
Good Girl
Cloud
Dupe of Molecule 01
Cool water
And a handful of Zara ones.
Oh and we share JHAG Not a perfume.

My teenage girls said either Glossier You or Jo Malone. My youngest uses Grapefruit as it’s very fresh smelling, middle one loves English Pear and Freesia and oldest one has Scarlet Poppy.

wowzw · 14/07/2024 20:57

the new Kylie
Jenner fragrance "Cosmic"
is a very youthful, clean,
fresh smell

bows101 · 14/07/2024 22:14

Bath and body works (sold in Next) do lovely smelling shower gels and body sprays. When layered up with both, they smell amazing. Alternatively Next do their own brand perfumes which are nice also.

Fiftyfiveandcounting · 14/07/2024 22:55

Dd likes some of the Ted Baker sprays on amazon.

ClickClack300 · 14/07/2024 22:59

And to think when we were that age it was the body shop perfume with the glass thing you wiped on your wrist, vanilla musk or impulse body spray! They don’t know they’re born these days 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/07/2024 23:25

My DD loved Stella by Stella Macartney but it's been discontinued for years now.
I got her a sample of the 'Pop' perfume but she wasn't keen

Favourite at the moment ( not a teen she's 22) is Sol de Janeiro , she has the showergel and a couple of the sprays ( all the original yellow one ).
I think it would be waaay too over powering if sprayed too liberally but using the showergel and a quick spritz is nice , .

Spottyhousecoat · 22/07/2024 22:53

My dd14 has Moschino toy 2 she picked it herself on holiday it's really lovely and light but lasts all day. It would be a lovely present the bottle is shaped like a teddy bear!

Donotforgetwhothetoothfairyis · 22/07/2024 22:58

sol De janiero- any and all. Also the Sabrina carpenter perfume has gone down well here.

roonetta · 31/07/2024 07:37

I bought Arianna Cloud for my teen a couple of years ago. It smells incredible on her and lasts all day. Would definitely recommend. On the flip side, I bought her Marc Jacobs Daisy last year and I can barely smell it when she puts it on and it doesn't last long at all. I have already bought another Arianna perfume for her this year (Mod Vanilla) which smells gorgeous ☺️
