Gifting - one gift?

Every year I see myself minimising gifts for my sisters and parents. I do manage it budget wise but still manage buying a few things (thanks for the bargain threads 😂) but every year I wonder how I can manage buying one gift per person?

Not sure what I'm asking really except what have been well received gifts that are just one thing?

One brother always gets a bottle of dark rum - his favourite
My sister gets her favourite magazine subscription.
Slippers.
Dressing gown/bathrobe is a sizeable present, but not too expensive.
Haven't decided the others yet, I find it helps to wrap it really nicely, to hand over a nicely wrapped box.
Or if you want to do several things, how about a stocking.
Do you want to give an idea of cost?

Not got a budget yet but your list @gardenmusic is along the lines of what I'm thinking. Not expensive gifts but something "big" enough to be a main gift. Maybe £20-30?

Vase, hurricane lamp, pyjamas.

Siblings and I do Secret Santa, it works very well. We have a good budget we all agree and do wish lists, so everyone gets something they like/is useful. There's a very strict 'no shit presents ' rule!

For parents I try to arrange something we can do together. Or subscriptions go well, there are lots of things available now, not just magazines. Some lovely food ones.

If they like plants, you can get a really nice indoor plant from somewhere like M and S, or from a nursery a shrub or even a small tree?

Why does it need to be just one gift? I don’t think I’ve ever given someone just one gift 🤷‍♀️😂 If it’s things that they will like and it’s within budget why does it need to be just the one?

Different if it's children, but my adults get one gift. They might get a stocking, too, but only one wrapped gift.

After several years of bargain hunting by necessity, I found it a little hard to transition my eye to full price purchases and their cost:value. I have to work to resist the urge to pad gifts out, and add just one more thing. It’s can be a nice impulse but it adds up!

It might help to keep an ideas list and jot down a few suggestions besides each persons’ name as they occur to you.
And then buy the best quality gift in that category to your budget. (Rather than trying to match suggestions to recipients iyswim)

Having received both, I think Ladurée macarons, and leonidas chocolates both deliver decadence at that price point. No comparison with cheaper products. But would they feel too “small”? (I suppose it depends on your recipients too)

I've never given one gift to anyone . I think it might be the fact I come from a very small family so if we did one gift each there'd be little to open , not very exciting

Thanks for all your thoughts. I usually am a padder and tbh always will be I think 😂

I guess I just look at my Christmas planner for space for only one gift to write down, when I watch Christmas films or cartoons there's mainly one gift gets given to recipients and I just imagine what Christmas should be about (not the presents!)

I'm just recovering from being ill so maybe my brain is just having a meltdown 😂
