Does anyone here have a small business or know of any small businesses that sell Christmas decorations, Halloween decorations, personalised bits, gifts etc!? 🎅🏼 I really like to support small businesses as much as possible (I do sell things myself) and love handmade items/decorations so please let me know below so I can have a look. Thanks! 😄

Etsy springs to mind. Or perhaps a small dried flower outlet if you are able to craft? Essentially hops is good for dried flowers.
I craft like a baboon.

Etsy is fantastic for this.

Thanks all, I'm currently browsing on Etsy as we speak lol

The problem with Etsy is that it’s full of mass produced crap too, usually at inflated prices over the identical item on eBay or Amazon. I find it hard to search to find the truly handmade items.

gardenmusic · 23/05/2024 18:56

Have you an independent florist nearby? Quite often the arrangements have dried flowers, cones etc and they can be salvaged and reused for years.

Etsy is full of mass produced rubbish.

You could try Folksy which isn't quite as bad or somewhere like mademe.

I did but they unfortunately moved. I'll keep an eye out though sounds like a great idea Grin

The Christmas shop:

Christmas Decorations for every style and budget (thechristmasshop.co.uk)

Two brothers had a shop in London but now online because of rent increases.

Love it, having a look now, thank you!

The actual Christmas Shop was full of mass produced goods, not sure if the online shop is the same.

Agree. It used to be handmade and independent producers, now it's full of drop-shippers and people downloading free canvas templates to print mugs and shirts from China.

Unsure as I'd never seen the things in their shop elsewhere.

Fontainebleau007 · 27/05/2024 23:07

Thanks for the info everyone. Though please keep letting me know of all and anyone who makes genuine handmade items. Not mass produced. Always looking to support. X

I would say your best bet is your local craft/ makers markets. In the next few months a lot of places will start having Christmas markets in the run up to Xmas, research the stalls that are attending - we went to one at a NT place last year and it was all local craft and makers and had a variety of different things (furniture/ Xmas decorations/ gifts ect) rather than the 15 soap/ wax melt/ cheese/ alcohol stalls that some Xmas markets are.

Unfortunately Etsy has become absolutely flooded with drop shipping, mass produced low quality stuff that has been marked up as 'home made'. It's incredibly difficult to find sellers on there that are making their own stuff nowadays. Mainly because it is very expensive for sellers to be on the platform nowadays. I have a friend that makes children's clothes and she has left etsy and now attends local makers markets, craft markets and sells on FB as it's cheaper for her.

I make hand made stained glass! I've got festive iridescent stars on the table today, literally just cut the glass and am about the start grinding. I've also been making snow men and Santas this week 😁. I can make anything you fancy and change colours etc.

These shops will have Christmas decorations but it’s a bit early. You can have a look at their Instagram to see what they’ve had previous years.

Where do you sell? We buy a new star decoration every year in memory of my husband and these look like they could fit the bill!

WitchyBits · 03/10/2024 14:44

I sell through friends and family and do 2-4 local craft fairs a year. I've got a type of auto immune arthritis so I can't produce huge amounts with any regularity, have the low output and local stuff. But I've done a few bigger projects for charities and schools etc. I'll see if I can find photos and post them. I've just finished soldering these 3 stars and given them a thorough clean. Next I'll be touching up the solder, then polishing, maybe adding patina and then putting them away for the fair.

As far as hobbies go I bloody love it.

Have a look at notonamazon.org - independent, fair to the makers and some really great stuff on there

HowManyDaysTilChristmas · 03/10/2024 16:48

I sell on Etsy but most of my tactile items (as opposed to artwork) are in a lovely gift shop in Monmouth called The Boat House Gallery!

My Etsy shop is here, though

Thanks for supporting artists, by the way, and hope you get good karma for doing so and manage to sell lots!

Fontainebleau007 · 04/10/2024 14:08

@WitchyBits I love your creations, especially the snowmen!
