9 1/2 year old girl ideas

Im worried that this is going to be the first year I’m stuck for fillers for my 9year old girl. She’s not really a girly girl but does like some girl stuff. She’s also at that age where she likes toys but doesn’t really play with a lot anymore. Any random hits?

Stationery, stickers, bath bomb, LED lights, American/Japanese sweets, fluffy socks, hair clasps, squishmallow, Lego dots snap bracelet, books, body spray, fimo, lip balm, purse, bag, earrings. Some of what my 9yr old loves.

It's May 1st.
Don't be worrying about this yet.
There are 1001 things she could become interested in during the next 7 months.

It's the Christmas topic so... jog on

Needmorelego · 01/05/2024 23:00

@HopelessAndWondering well yes it's the Christmas topic.....but seriously what is the point of trying to think of ideas now when a 9 year olds interests could be completely different in 7 months time.
Who knows if there's going to be a new "must have" craze, or a popular singer who appears out of nowhere with an incredibly catchy song and dance and every 9 year wants all the merch, or a new book series that every 9 year old raves about....or whatever.
It's May 1st....not even summer yet. @TaupeRobin enjoy the summer and what it brings before you even start to think about Christmas 🙂

HopelessAndWondering · 01/05/2024 23:03

Father Christmas brings little fun things so keep back all the "big" "trendy" stuff for the parents to give. Also some people need to plan this spend across the year and grab bargains when they can. Stop being a judgemental twonk.

My 10yo is the same! All of the above.

also craft stuff was a hit last Xmas - mini thermal printer, clay beads, resin jewellery, sleepover stuff like eye mask and sleep spray. She is the easiest person I know to buy for!

In the spirit of the thread, random santa gift I bought tonight is a swanee whistle as I think my DD will enjoy it

HopelessAndWondering · 01/05/2024 23:06

And just to say, I like to buy santa presents early and wrap them because I genuinely forget what I've bought and it ends up being as much of a surprise for me on Christmas morning as it is for DD which makes it more fun. Yes I have wrapped some santa presents this week!

@HopelessAndWondering not judgemental - just sensible.
Spending money on things that could be completely "uncool" by December doesn't make financial sense.
Popular crazes are usually the cheap and cheerful stocking fillers type things anyway - Loombands, Fidget Spinners, Moshi Monsters....all cheap crazes that have been and gone.
Who knows what everyone is going to be obsessed with in 7 months time.
However....
@TaupeRobin if you are interested. Here is the type of things my daughter has liked getting in her stocking over the years (she's almost 16 now)
Bubble bath
Pokémon Cards
Collectable "blind bag" Sylvanian Families
Lego minifigs or polybags
Small stationary from shops like Flying Tiger
Puzzle books
A comic book
Small make your own craft sets like bracelets.
Beads....lots of beads.
Hot Wheels car.
Novelty socks.

SeasideIceCream · 01/05/2024 23:15

Art supplies- sketching pencils, oil pastels , nice paints, posca pens etc.
Cute bits of stationary
Top trump cards or interesting playing cards or travel games
Hair accessories, jewellery, hair chalk, lip balm
Bath bombs
Cool sweets/ food/ pop/ bubble gum etc
Bookmarks & books
Crafty stuff- knitting needles, cross stitch, resin kits etc.
Fluffy socks/ hat/ gloves
Hot choc/ baking kits
Mini Lego sets or figures

Bedroom decorations- mini succulents, lightboxes, photo frames, etc

This is the age where hobby stuff started being very popular so it does depend on what her interests are.
