Do I need to re-steam the Xmas pud?

V traditional MIL is coming for Christmas Day and so I dutifully made my Xmas pudding on stir up Sunday.

Now here's the thing: she prefers to eat it cold. All of the recipes I see tell you to re-heat the pudd/do a 2nd steam before serving, but is there a reason to do that, other than obviously to make it hot?!

I should say, nobody else will eat the sodding thing so not bothered about having it warm for others. I quite like it as leftovers, thoroughly mixed in with vanilla ice cream but that's irrelevant here!

Steam it and put hers in the freezer when you start dinner

Thanks @ofestivetree Does this mean that yes, I need to re-steam?

And if nobody else wants it warm either, can I re-steam today to get a job out of the way?

I think I'd re-steam before serving, given it has been sat about for several weeks.
But it would also be fine steamed today. Might you need to slide it out of the pudding basin when hot?

I don't re-steam mine. I like my pudding warm with custard, but would never have a whole pudding be eaten in one sitting. I cut what's needed for whoever wants it warm, and heat that in the microwave. Comes out perfect, and no worries about the leftovers you have for breakfast on St Stephen's day!
