I got a VP last year and bought them this notebook and some nice chocolate. He laughed.

Torganer · 13/12/2023 20:03

I’d just go for wine. Nobody wants a jokey present they’ll just end up taking to the charity shop.

Brefugee · 13/12/2023 20:05

except for that notebook tho! it's brilliant. Get that

Thegoldgrind · 13/12/2023 20:07

My DH once got a fancy knife sharpener, I found it pretty funny 😆

MadCatLady27 · 13/12/2023 20:19

Does he support a football team? Could get a jokey mug as they're often funny but not overstepping. I've got DH one that says "ok for a Liverpool fan on" for Xmas (although I support Manchester United so it has extra impact!). There's some that say "as a X fan this is the only cup we will be getting this year"

I do like that notebook, I've seen a brilliant range one of which is "my list of bodies I buried in the wood"

I had to go with a generic mug and coaster for my SS, I've met her a couple of times but I don't think she'd like a jokey gift, which is my preference for SS while still making sure the gift is relevant to the person

That notebook is amazing

NoTouch · 13/12/2023 22:02

The notepad and this bottle of Merlot

Takes you only slightly over budget

Keiki · 13/12/2023 22:06

Cufflinks!

Gotosleepnow2023 · 13/12/2023 22:59

£15 worth of scratch cards, it creates a bit of entertainment as the boss scratches them and you all find out if he'll still be your boss the next day!

We had a £5 budget at work and I bought scratch cards, my colleague won 20 quid... He was chuffed!

Vickim03 · 13/12/2023 23:27

We've just done ours and I opted for a quiz card game. Was food related as I had head of product. We've just spent half hour asking eachother all the questions... started off just her and those around us, ended up the whole table joining in. it provided entertainment for our meal and she can take it home to get out with her family. No rules to learn. Maybe something like that?

Cufflinks!

For £15?!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 14/12/2023 09:15

Wine!

You'll get a good bottle for £15.

See if you can find out if he prefers red or white, and go to a specialist wine shop
(Eg Majestic, Oddbins) and ask for advice.

Laska2Meryls · 14/12/2023 09:19

I once bought mine a Sooty magic wand ashis SS gift because he was always saying that people thought that he had one .... He never knew it was me ....

biscuitcat · 14/12/2023 09:30

My usual secret Santa present is a little 'hamper' (too grand a word really!) of nice cheese, crackers and chutney which usually seems to go down well

Nandosplease · 14/12/2023 09:31

I adopted a donkey for my boss one Xmas 😂

FeelinSpendy · 14/12/2023 09:53

If there’s a Waitrose near you, they’ve got some good wines on offer for £10 a bottle (some reduced from about £18). So a bottle of that, plus the notebook, makes you only 99p over budget and you’ve got a nice and funny gift.

ValerieVomit · 14/12/2023 09:54

A former boss of mine once unwrapped a Horrible Bosses DVD from Secret Santa.

Lyricallie · 14/12/2023 09:55

Best one I ever bought my senior manager. Was a Lego Batman key ring!

I like this!!

My late MIL used to do that for my kids every Christmas. Why a 2, 3, 4 or 5 year old would be pleased with that is beyond me.

Just wanted to add that they weren't in the slightest bit thrilled.
