So, Christmas Day, I can do. I know what’s expected.

I have around 6 friends coming over Christmas Eve, around 4/5pm so I’m planning on providing a casual picky tea - preferably things I can prepare in advance. One vegan, one baby.

what kind of things would you prepare? I keep coming up blank. My usual Christmas Eve consists of panic shopping and being up till 2am
wrapping - I refuse to do that this year.

thank you 😊

I just get party food that can go in the oven.

dcadmamagain · 10/12/2023 16:32

I’d do cheese and biscuits, French bread, cold meats, pigs in blankets, crudités and dips, crisps
and tgen mince pies and Yule log

I do rum and Pringles…..

but I’m aware that’s not to everyone’s taste 😂

I think as pp said, cheese board, cold meats, dips, crisps…just regular ‘party food’ that you can sort before hand so you can enjoy the evening too.

Is just pick up a selection of party food.

Rum and pringles sounds bloody good to me ! My kind of "soirée "

Cheese and charcuterie board

Our Christmas Eve is always :
lunchtime - triple cooked chips* , fish fingers for DS (non vegetarian) and either vegetable grills or Aldi Fishless fish for us (DH, DD, me)
Some dips
Pudding- either apple crumble / steamed pudding /ice cream

Later in the evening French Bread, cheese , crisps , fresh salsa ,
Chocolate crispy cakes , Christmas Cake

Done this since they were very little , they;re now adults .

Christmas Eve Eve is take away .

*potato wedges done in the oven are equally delicious and much easier and safer than a chip pan.

This is what I’d do too… just aware they may expect different - several don’t drink.

I love our chip pan. I don’t like the smell it leaves the house after though!

that’s a great menu.
