I'm just sat wondering what other people do for their xmas eve/xmas day/boxing day traditions? Ours are:
xmas eve: stepdaughter will spend half the day with her mum and half the day with us, this year she's with us xmas eve night and we will have a xmas eve buffet with party food and camembert (we also controversially cook our xmas dinner on xmas eve and reheat on xmas day)
xmas day: wake up, this year pressies in the morning as stepdaughter home in the morning & for lunch (when shes with us in the afternoon we do most pressies in afternoon), chill out in comfies all morning with xmas films on & playing with pressies, reheated xmas lunch, then dropping stepdaughter to her mums and heading to my parents for xmas afternoon & snacks
boxing day: very slow chilled out morning, clearing up xmas day mess, leftovers for lunch, then head to MIL's house (she works xmas eve and xmas day) for big family buffet with kids cousins etc and will pick up stepdaughter on the way (on years shes with us in the morn we usually head over earlier in the day and then she'll head to her mum's around 3)
Anyone else got routines and traditions that they are super excited for this year? :)

Your Christmases sound really chilled out and very lovely.

This year all our grown up children are coming to ours for a few days incl Christmas day and Boxing day. A trio of elderly relatives are joining us for Christmas lunch at 1pm, so they can get taken home (fairly local) before dark.

Boxing day will be more rellies turning up, bubble n squeak, cold cuts and pickles. More pudding than you ought to have.

@SerpentEndBench honestly I'm so stressy the rest of the year this is our time as a family to just relax and embrace the slower pace of xmas. I know lot of people find it stressful but honestly I love xmas and as the mum, I'm determined to make it special for all of us, myself included so that means downtime (by prepping in advance) but it does mean xmas day and boxing day I don't really cook as MIL puts out so much food!
That sounds like such a lovely xmas for you as well! Bubble and squeak is the one thing I don't do anymore as my son, stepdaughter and partner refuse to eat it!

Christmas Eve and Boxing Day are pretty much the same as a usual Saturday afternoon in our house - watch TV, read books, play games, crafting, dog walks.

Apart from Christmas Eve and Boxing Day have more booze, earlier booze, Christmas jumpers and wall-to-wall beige buffet food.

I don't think I've ever had two Christmases the same, so I find the idea of traditions or routines very unusual! Sometimes we've been on holiday abroad, sometimes at home or with different family. Just see what we fancy! Routine is me and DH worst nightmare. hence no kids.

No kids here either.

@Daisies12 My sister is the same, she's not one for routine, I think her job as a midwife doesn't really allow for routine anyway, but they have different christmases every year! I just like hearing what people have planned etc, I think its the one time of the year where everyone can just do their own thing and no-one can really pass any judgement because it should be whatever makes you happy! I am very easily overwhelmed and stressed and so are the kids, so the routine and traditions in our house mean christmas is less stressful and overwhelming for everyone, especially with my youngest with suspected autism and sensory issues, just makes for a chilled out christmas :)

@KStockHERO That sounds lovely, I'm desperate for a dog, I'm jealous of the dog walk but everyone else in my house is terrified of them!
