Really struggling with ideas for mum this year. We lost dad earlier this year, first Christmas without him. Over the last few years we've bought them foodie gifts, things like hampers, cheese board and crackers, cream tea etc etc. But that's harder when it's just one person. She's not a clothes person, doesn't "do" technology, isn't interested in perfume or jewellery. Any ideas???

i know you said no clothes but I bought my octogenarian mum this lounge suit recently and she loves it so much she also got the grey one. It’s really beautiful quality, soft and warm. It’s smart enough to be worn outside and in. it’s like wearing a hug!

there are books where your mum can write her life story. It was designed by a lady whose mum had dementia, as the author felt she had missed out on knowing about her mums life.
i had one and it took me abut 18 months to complete. The prompts are amazing. It made me remember things I thought I had forgotten. There is a space for photos.

it will hopefully give your mum lots to do. I shed a lot of tears writing it, but also it made me appreciate the happy times.

After she read the book, we went to visit lots of places that I had featured.

I think mine was called Tell me your story Mum.

No better way of telling her she's over the hill...

Right?

Hoping the OP has discovered the perfect gift since the start of the thread!

I woke up to a brilliant list in the FT:

and have just ordered something tech-y from it for the nonagenarian in the family. Very pleased. I’d have had to fall back on a flower subscription otherwise, which didn’t feel sufficiently exciting for this particular recipient. I’m crossing my fingers for timely express delivery.

11 gifts for a good hair day

Pins, products and styling gadgets to go under the tree
