Where to Christmas shop in London?

I have a work meeting in London on Monday and thought it might be nice to stay after and make a start on my Christmas shopping, but I'm not sure where is the best place to go for a good variety of shops. I'm only after high street style, nothing high end. I guess Oxford Street? Will there be late night shopping on a Monday?

My meeting is in Victoria if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Excellent suggestions, thank you all. I don't honestly know what I want to buy, but I quite like having a look round the shops and getting ideas of things I wouldn't otherwise have thought of. The town I live in doesn't have a great range of shops, and those it has aren't that big so I'm hoping that I'll get bigger versions of the same shops with more variety of stock.

And I do want it all to feel a bit festive too, so a large shopping centre, convenient or otherwise, is not what I'm looking for.

Great idea to have a look at a map and start at the right end of Oxford Street, my geography of London is awful so I have no idea how locations fit together.

If you’re in Victoria then it makes no sense to go to places like Westfield. Soho, Oxford St and Regent St have loads of great shops.. plus Liberty which is gorgeous at Xmas. I’d stick to there, look up the shops list. There’s loads!

I totally agree that Kings Road is nicer, @LaLoose, but OP wants high street brands and late night shopping. Oxford/Regent Street/Piccadilly (or Westfields) have the widest range of high street brands and the longest opening hours. There are plenty of nice places to go for supper or a glass of wine nearby in Soho, Charlotte Street, St Christopher's Place, Lancaster Court, Marylebone High Street and some of the independent shops/unusual brands might still be open.

It shouldn't be too busy on a Monday evening, just enough hustle and bustle to not feel dead. 😂 The lights and window displays are lovely. It certainly looks a lot less run down after dark 😂

Now I am going to totally horrify you 😂I'll probably get my London citizenship revoked for this... If I were OP, I might get off the tube at Hyde Park corner and go for a wander through Winter Wonderland seeing as she will be coming that way anyway. It should be quiet on a Monday evening and may even be free entry as it's off peak. If nothing else, the lights and stalls of overpriced stale gingerbread and Christmas decorations look pretty, and the mulled wine and hot chocolate smell delicious and Christmassy. It's quite a nice walk across the park to get you in the Christmas spirit when almost no one else is there as long as you don't have to pay!

Marylebone High Street

Kensington high street has all the high street shops plus a few extra quirky and independents as well. Oxford street has sadly lost its sparkle and is full of of American sweet shops.

Oxford St has much that is convenient.
John Lewis has a fantastic selection of Christmas stuff, baubles etc.
Selfridges, Uniqlo, Liberty, good teen shops like Urban Outfitters, kids stocking fillers at Flying Tiger. Muji, Carnaby St / St Christopher’s Place…

Oxford Street is where I tend to go. If you get off Tottenham Court Road end, there's an interactive snow globe just down from the tube station. It's really fun and made us feel all christmassy!

We didn't venture down Oxford Street but went in the primark (Tottenham Court Road) lots of christmassy things in there. We picked up a few stocking fillers and gifts. Loads more choice than our small primark in local town.
