Is this an impossible person to buy for?

Need a present/presents for a middle aged man in the family, budget around £70. Due to MH he rarely goes out, manages ok otherwise and works from home and has a wife/kids at home so not massively isolated but just prefers not to go out much.

No food gifts due to various intolerances, hobbies are reading, watching films and playing Playstation but I don't know what films/books/games he has and all the family buy him those at Christmas so don't know what they'll be getting him. He's not much into clothes or home decor and his wife couldn't give any suggestions for what he might want this year. Would prefer not to get a whole family gift as then I think that would end up being something only his wife and children would be into. Is this an impossible task?

Not an exciting suggestion, but could you get him vouchers that he can spend on books/games? If you wanted to give him a physical gift how about a really nice pen - can always be used and would be his thing rather than a family thing?

Vouchers for PlayStation or Amazon … that kind of thing I think.

Wine? Spirits?

sounds a bit like my brother. I’ve bought my brother two recent release thriller type books which are high up in the charts. Some cans of craft beer and put them all in a nice Xmas bag. Oppenheimer DVD and a wooden puzzle type game.

he might have read the books, he might have seen Oppenheimer. I don’t know, I’m hoping not. But if I didn’t take the risk he’d get nothing!

that Escape game looks good.

Does he have a Kindle?

Do you know what films he likes? You could get him a present that is merchandise from a favourite film. For example if he loves Star Wars there are several merchandise to choose from ie: Star Wars mugs, cushions, figurines, Lego etc. Harry Potter has merchandise too. Maybe one of his favourite movies has merchandise. Some popular PlayStation games have merchandise too.

On the other hand some people love getting a gift card to spend however they like. Could you give him a gift voucher for PlayStation games?

CD of Tina Guo "Game on"

Socks - you can never have too many socks - there are whole threads this year about the love of socks. You could get plain high quality ones, garish jokes ones, ones for gamers, &c &c &c

Audible subscription,as an avid booklover it's one of my favourite gifts

Heated blanket. There’s some really nice plush ones around in that budget range, and it gets cold sitting around gaming.
