Is it still traditional to take your children to see Father Christmas?

Was wondering this as I haven't heard any parents talking about it this year?
If you do how much would or have you paid?

It's still a thing, but I have noticed a lot more local coverage on the prices of events and parents' reactions to them.

I've never done it with my three children. I just don't see the need to.

I’m more gobsmacked that some people think it isn’t a thing.

A couple of years ago we took our two DGC and my DDs step son to see Santa. It was the first time DSGS had ever seen Santa. He was seven. His face was an absolute picture, he was blown away. He still says it was the best day of his life to this day, and he doesn’t believe anymore.

We've just got back from Centre Parcs....£23 for santas grotto, can take your own photos and they also give you 2 large free photos....you can purchase more. He got lego. We've taken him every year, definitely a big thing still.

We've been going to Dobbie's garden centre grotto since the eldest was little. £11 each and £7 for a photo. You pre-choose the toy. We keep going back because they have the best Santa.

DD has one where she works...she's the "Elf-in-charge-of-the-reindeer".

My dad is the main man this year, his first time and he's 81. I hope they're gentle with him!

We are doing a Xmas lights event that's £210 for 7 of us. And going to see Santa at £6 in a winter wonderland. (Rides /ice skating is extra)

No its expensive and he never looks like they expect him to

We’re going to a party with Santa, elves, the grinch and princesses with includes a buffet, selection box each off Santa and games with prizes. It was £25 for the children and £5 for the adults. It’s was crazy this year everywhere we looked at was either fully booked already or charging the adults the same price as the children. One I saw was charging £45 each and that just seems ridiculous expensive for what they were offering.

We go to one at a garden centre every year, it's lovely.
£15 per child and £2 per adult so cost us £34 and then £12 for the professional photo.

Magixx · 26/11/2023 16:55

I’ve paid £20 today at a photography studio, 2x professional photos (one with santa, one without), little meet & greet with santa and a token gift.
We will also be visiting Santa’s grotto at Butlins on holiday in a couple weeks which was included.

A few years ago there was an amazing Father Christmas in Kensington which we saw a couple of years. Was totally free and they emailed you the picture.
Last year we went to local shopping centre and it's £5 voluntary donation for charity and they do activities and meet santa and get a little gift so doing that again this year.

housethatbuiltme · 26/11/2023 19:56

We go to the free one at the shopping center.

The kids get a free gift (usually a book).
