Command hook - front door wreath

Hanging my first wreath!

I've got an outdoor command hook which says it will hold the weight, but will it definitely be ok in all weather ie, rain? Having visions of my poor wreath flying around the neighbourhood so just need anyone who has done this to confirm it was ok...or not.

Also is it likely to hold better to a painted upvc door or glass pane surface?

How heavy is your wreath? I use a command hook which I've stuck upside down at the top of the inside of the door. I then just use sewing cotton doubled up a few times to hold the wreath. It's thin enough that it doesn't affect the door closure, and means the hook isn't visible from the outside. It's a clear hook, so it also isn't really noticeable inside so I just leave it up all year.

It's only about half a kg. Do you find it's ok in windy conditions with that method? Doesn't blow around or anything? Thanks @MaggieFS

I do the upside down hook on the inside of the door like Maggie, but I use thin ribbon over the top of the door to hang mine!

I use a black shoelace (my door is black) over the top of the door and tied round the little peephole thing on the inside. It doesn't blow around. I used to have a big metal wreath hanger and that was always sliding to one side.

I might try this I think, that way even if the hook does slip it'll get trapped on the door and the wreath won't fall

I've got some invisible thread which will probably do the trick, thanks all

You're welcome. Perhaps twice per winter it's windy enough to be disturbed and rustle a bit but we've never had problems with it.

Mine has been up for about 4 years (hook, not wreath) and is still going strong

I have an over the door hook and I cable tie the wreath to it otherwise it wouldn't be pinched almost instantly.

We do this too with the ribbon, just the same as Maggie does we leave the hook in place all year round. I have an autumn wreath with lights and velvet pumpkins on so we use it for that as well.

I also have a piece of Command strip stuck on the door near the hook and the opposite strip goes on the battery pack for battery lights on the wreaths, that keeps the battery part in the dry too. Inside of the door is white so it doesn't show up.

I used a command hook on the door last year and it was fine.

Looks like the command hooks are pretty reliable then. Great idea about the batteries- might just switch my wreath for a light up one now!
