Shared present idea for 8 and 13 year old

I'm looking for suggestions for a shared present idea for my 8 and 13 year old. A family member has suggested they get them a karaoke machine, which one of them would use but probably get bored of quite quickly and the other wouldn't use so I'm looking for what else I can suggest. Budget about £150.
My problem is the younger one wants everything, the old one wants nothing. Both girls.

Gift for the younger one
cash for the older

Staggered at family members spending that much. Don’t think mine have ever got anything more than £20 from any family member.

A Nintendo switch would be a good joint present. I think there a bit more than your budget but you could get a good second hand bundle.

We got all our DC a good quality netball hoop and balls. Mix of DD/ DS and ages. They all still use it several years later. If you have the space indoors you could get a combo games table for pool/snooker/ air hockey/ football/ table tennis.

Cash or voucher for somewhere they like to shop? If they give you the cash you can buy things as they want/need them? I don’t understand the joint present thing and it’s a lot to spend on something that may be unwanted/short lived. The fact that you’re struggling to think of something shows to me that there clearly isn’t anything that would work and cash/vouchers would be better especially for the 13 yr old

Go Ape is great fun and we live near a TreeTop Crazy Golf place and that was also brilliant (8yo boy and 14yo girl). You could be the adult that accompanies instead of parents, which might make it more special. Could possibly do to different activities so you have one-on-one time with the kids.

We're looking at going to Bounce Below in Wales as I think both of mine would enjoy that.

@IHabeNoIdea

Op sorry to jump on I just literally asked about this.
I am looking at merlin passes also can you give me any advice please

IHabeNoIdea1 · 11/11/2023 16:52

Check the exemption dates! The cheaper the pass, the less dates you can go. Eg. The cheapest one is no school holidays or Saturdays. We bought Silver which is not at summer holiday or xmas/Halloween/easter.

To open on Christmas day - the younger one had a huge box full of empty toilet roll tubes and inside some I had put slips of paper with where we were going.

For the older one, I bought a bag of packing nuggets (white balls) and using different coloured pens for each place wrote a letter on each nugget. She then had to find the same coloured letters and make out the word!

@IHabeNoIdea thank you.
Did you all get silver or one better pass to get the discounts? Also the 49 joining fee is that per pass.
Fabulous reveals...

IHabeNoIdea1 · 11/11/2023 17:10

We all just got the silver passes. Think there was a black Friday deal actually, so we didn't pay an admin fee. When I looked at the benefits for paying more, I didn't think for us it was worth the extra money.

How about a pamper day/spa? Trip to nail bar and hairdressers together?
also like others said day trip out zoo, theme park, experience day, afternoon tea, photo shoot.

LeavesinAutumn · 11/11/2023 22:20

@IHabeNoIdea

Doone22 · 11/11/2023 22:36

An experience or day trip

Mirrormeback · 12/11/2023 00:30

I came on to say a Switch because they can play it separately or together so it won't be a wasted present

Mirrormeback · 12/11/2023 00:31

Cash 💰 will always be popular

Goldbar · 12/11/2023 00:38

Niche I know, but when I was that age I desperately wanted to go up in a hot air balloon.

KingofCats · 12/11/2023 00:42

Candy floss machine (under budget)
slushie maker

aname1234 · 13/11/2023 11:20

Needmorelego · 13/11/2023 11:22

@aname1234 for a 13 year old?

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 13/11/2023 11:33

What about upping the quality of something for the older child, like if they are into art, then better quality art materials. Perhaps an Amazon voucher to buy their own books or gifts, as and when, so bank some money for when they do want to buy something. My brother always had a list as long as a roll of wallpaper and constantly nagged for items, whilst I rarely asked for much, but I was fussy about what they were, so not about the quantity but the quality for me, so perhaps that might be a way to go.
