Havent cooked xmas dinner before, always go to my mums or dads but I want to stay at home this year and cook. Will be for 6.
Will be having beef brisket and turkey crown. Any tips please?

Buy it all frozen from Cook!

Or give the Turkey a long resting time. Means your oven is free for all the other bits that need cooking, and you have a long time to simmer your gravy from the juices from the bird.

Thanks everyone.

So my plan will be to slow cook the beef.

I have 2 airfryers, a microwave that is an oven too and a main oven.
I looked at the pre made veg and potatoes, are they any good?

Depends what you mean by good. I can't really taste much difference between homemade cranberry sauce and shop bought and actually prefer Aunt Bessies roasties to the M&S ones so I'm probably a bit of a philistine. I do find with the pre prepared veg I'd probably avoid overly fancy brussel sprouts - I'd just steam some fresh ones, for red cabbage the M&S one isn't bad but has a lot more sugar than homemade (DF has diabetes so I keep an eye on these things).

Ultimately people are coming to your house for an opportunity to celebrate a festival together, not for a gourmet meal. I can guarantee whatever you do will be better than Toby Carvery charging £50+ per person or the hotel down the road at £60+.

@badgerfoxy1 the other thing you can do - if budget permits - is have a trial run on some of the ingredients. Get the family involved in voting for their favourite stuffing and roasties and turn it into a bit of fun.

I love red cabbage and have stopped buying the ready made ones because they're so sweet. I make my own, adding finely shredded red cabbage in a pan on top of the stove with enough pressed apple juice to just cover (or half juice half water if preferred), then transfer the content with remaining juice into an oven dish (I add a few dried cranberries for an extra tang) plus a little salt. Cover with foil and bake in the oven till the cabbage is al dente. This can definitely be done a day or so before needed - keep in fridge till need to cook. Enjoy! 🍷 🌹

if you want to cook from scratch you can actually precooked parsnips and roast potatoes whenever the oven is free. Allow to cool and then freeze and just finish off in the oven on the day.

And my best tip of all is try to get hold of one of those old hostess trolleys. I bought one for 20 quid a couple of years ago and it is brilliant . No worrying about oven space or timings because everything goes in whenever it is cooked and so.it is all ready to eat whenever we want.
I know it is all a bit Abgail's Party but I wish I had bought one years ago !

Not as good as fresh IMO, it depends how fussy you are.
