I've been put in charge of organising some Christmas activities for the office, on little to no budget, and need some inspiration/ideas please!
I know forced fun, especially in the workplace isn't everyones cup of tea but the option will be there for those who want to join in, no issue at all for those who don't. (Many WFH anyway)
For context, we are an office of 200ish people, have a large open plan office with a big space in the middle which can be configured with tables, chairs, sofas etc as needed. Also have a projector screen.
We have an onsite cafe who could provide pretty much anything refreshments wise.
There is not really a budget as such so trying to think of things that don't cost the earth.
Any of the ideas have the potential to be held in office hours or after work.
Ideas so far:
- Handmade craft fair (Anyone who has a crafty side hustle sell their items to staff - we have several staff who run card/candle/jewellery businesses on the side)
- Quiz night (mince pies/hot chocolate/mulled wine etc. provided by cafe)
- Present wrapping evening - bring your presents, we provide wrapping paper, tape, ribbon etc and wrap all your gifts out of sight of kids/family! (Alternative to this could be to set up a gift wrapping station and pay a small fee for charity and someone will wrap all your gifts for you)
- Company wide secret santa, opt in if you want
- Cafe provide christmas dinner one day free for all staff, or Christmas afternoon tea?
- Christmas movie night with film on big projector screen & cafe refreshments
- Decorate a Christmas tree ornament to take home (or leave on the office christmas tree)
- Wine tasting evening with local company
- Wreath making workshop with local company
I'm aware some of this sounds a bit twee but our office/business is very laid back, informal, one big family type vibe - we often do things like this for certain events.
Has anyone done anything fun/christmassy that we could try and replicate?
Thanks!
