Christmas Treats - cheaper alternatives

I wondered if anyone can share sweets/treats/drinks etc that aren't the normal branded ones but taste just as good.

For example, After Eights are a must in this house but so expensive! I saw Asda do their own but have never tried them so thought it might be fun to read what people like to buy.

Quality street/Roses etc would be another one I'd be keen to hear about .

Thanks 🎅

According to my son Aldi’s after eights taste better! Same with their Jaffa cakes (in case anyone needed to know!)

I’m not sure straight substitutions are ever all that great, but there are loads of lovely Christmas treats worth trying - Lidl and Aldi introduced loads of German and European staples.

I highly rate Aldi’s chocolate florentines. And Lidl do marzipan based chocolate treats that are very moreish.

Aldi’s box of very chocolatey biscuits is imo the nicest of the very chocolatey selections and while I like a tin of danish cookies, I’m not keen on the in between tins of not quite chocolatey enough biscuits.

Aldi stolen bites are the best I’ve ever tasted!

Lidl have fantastic shortbread, made in Scotland. It's really good.

Aldi Irish cream is a good dupe for Bailey imo, not sweets but an Aldi saver
