Taking teenagers to Winter Wonderful

DS is 14 and really wants to go to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park with his mates. We don't live in London but can get there for a day trip.

I've said I'm not happy with them travelling to London by themselves but I will go with them, let them wander round for a few hours by themselves, and take them home.

I appreciate everyone will come and tell me it's hell on earth, but he really wants to go.

When should I book? I was thinking about 4? And getting an evening train home.

Any advice? Is there stuff for me to do on my own or should I just drop them off. Really I'm asking if there's anywhere for me to sit with a book.

Not Winter Wonderful, Winter Wonderland. Clearly this is wishful thinking!

I went last year mid week and it wasn't hell on earth at all. Its better after dark because the lights look fab. There are loads of rides to go on but they cost extra. Im oretty sure the prices of all the extras are on their website. There's a christmas market for you to look around and plenty of bars with mulled wine, cider, hot chocolate, firepits etc for you to sit and read your book.

Oh this is very promising.

Maybe we could hot foot it down on the train after school.

It gets very very busy and very lively after dark when all the lights and music are on.
It's also expensive.
£20 for family of 4 to go on the ghost train.
£7 portion of frozen chips.
£9 churros. Etc
But it is nice. Enjoy!
