Hi, I'm looking for ideas for a North pole breakfast. I've never done one before and in need of inspiration. Recipes, decorations, any ideas please. Pics if possible.

I’ve done Rudolf pancakes, added bonus of having the leftover chocolates to eat!

I was thinking reindeer crumpets or pancakes

meatbaseddessert · 10/11/2023 08:16

North Pole breakfast?

Raw herring followed by some caribou hunting?

Whale blubber on toast?

That’s exactly the response my husband gave when I told him about them 😂

I just do all ds's fave foods set out like a buffet on the dining table. Lots of treat foods and non breakfasty foods. I decorate with a Christmas tablecloth, Christmas cup, table decs snd a cracker. Nothing to do with the elf.

We did this Christmas day last year, the kids loved it, far more exciting than the turkey dinner! Christmas shapped crumpets (I think most supermarkets have them, M&S and morrrisons definitely) Pancakes made into santa face and little Christmas shaped bowls with fruit, Nutella and jam. Attached some ideas I'm thinking for this year, although I think we might do Christmas eve

What fresh hell is this?!)

Thankfully didn't exist so didn't have the pressure of all this bollocks when mine were children. Yet.... they are away for Christmas this year and I am so tempted to do a North Pole breakfast before they go 😂

Raw whale blubber
Caribou steaks
Seal meat

Thinking the same!

So glad DC are teenagers, they don't care about a possible glitzy breakfast their friends have. Or Christmas eve boxes fot that matter.

very glad to see that there are possibly others like me - watching this thread with a slightly horrified face…..

Just to point out even now now in 2023 there are plenty of us with kids aged 3/7 (like me) who feel no pressure at all to do anything of this kind, and whose kids are somehow enjoying perfectly happy and sane childhoods without being severely scarred for the lack of all this 😂

KeepSmiling89 · 10/11/2023 10:16

Loving these ideas :)
Never had a special breakfast at Christmas but might get a bit creative with bananas and such. Will keep an eye out for the Christmas tree crumpets as well as DD (will be 2 soon) loves them.
@Moppet5 - LOVE that reindeer pancake - so simple but effective!
@Aug12 - lovely table set up - again so simple but plenty of food for everyone :)

Bluejellybean23 · 10/11/2023 12:44

I don’t really see where this pressure some mention is coming from. I don’t feel any pressure but know my kids would enjoy this. I think if people want to do a bit of an extravagant breakfast they can without others saying they’re doing it under pressure!

Broodywuz · 10/11/2023 15:35

*@Bluejellybean23 agree, I don't feel it's any pressure or stress just love to see how much my kids get excited by it. Never really understand why people feel the need to come on these threads and leave such negative comments

BurntOrangeAutumn · 10/11/2023 16:16

I like this idea OP!
Following for ideas 🥰

Ontopofthesunset · 10/11/2023 16:41

But when do people do it? December 1st seems very early. It's such a long time before Christmas so to me the idea of keeping your kids hyper for so long is extraordinary. I suppose doing something on Christmas Eve might be fun, but not strawberries and grapes in December - something actually wintery and Christmassy.

Also it is still a very long time until December 1st so I can't believe it would take 3 weeks of planning to cook a few waffles or pancakes and sprinkle some icing sugar on them.

Doveyouknow · 10/11/2023 16:49

I was imagining a Nordic inspired breakfast with pumpernickel bread, cured meats and cheese when I opened this thread. Maybe raid the IKEA food section for some bits?

I’m planning on doing it Xmas eve. But even so, maybe your children or others are different to mine but but mine don’t get hyper after one Christmassy breakfast… it’s just a bit of fun. It’s just nice to get ideas from others who might be planning on doing a Christmassy breakfast in advance. Really no need to be negative about it like a previous poster said - it’s just a breakfast idea which some people want to do’

Hi, just to update.

No stress or pressure to do this at our house but a hell of a lot of pleasure in that my son is excited, recognises a celebration and has some understanding of what is happening socially. This is huge for him, he's a teenager with disabilities and we want to encourage him as much as we can.

I went to home bargains and bought a balloon arch, seat covers, table runner and a few other bits. They had loads of candy cane lane type bits; big light up candy canes, giant sweets etc. I could have easily spent a small fortune.

I have Christmas plates already and have decided to do food all day. So breakfast then lunch and picky things for dinner.

I am going to use some of the suggestions on here, the pancake reindeer is great.

Thank you for all your suggestions. Hope you all have great time over Christmas.

Lovely idea OP. I hope you all really enjoy your day.

Junobug · 11/11/2023 22:04

We usually have things that we don't have the rest of the year like pop tarts, chocolate cereal, muffins, fruit yogurt etc...
However, we are really trying to reduce processed foods so I might make some muffins, waffles, fruit salad, chocolate sauce. So it still feels a treat.
We also lay a Christmas table, that stays for the month, get the christmas mugs out, a few of the christmas ornaments. It's not a big thing, it just starts the Christmas season. I dont see that it is any different to other traditions to do with Christmas. What each family does is what makes Christmas special to them.

My DS is 24 and has always been one of these people who would rather do anything except eat . Even now his food choices are very plain.
Which is why he;ll have toasted cheese when we have our Dec 1st Brunch .

When he was little he was so excited about Christmas and my parents visiting he was a nightmare to get him to eat .

I made him a packet of sandwhiches , wrapped in foil and some stickers that "Action Man" left for him , he had to eat these before we went out .
And yes , I still rib him about the Action Man Sarnies even now Xmas Wink
